For the second year in a row, the Chicago Bears own the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. At least this time around, it isn’t because they’re the worst team in the league.

The Bears acquired the 2024 first-round pick of the Carolina Panthers last year, and it’s paid off. Now it’s time to rebuild an offense led by a new QB, as Justin Fields is now the backup in Pittsburgh.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has used his resources of NFL contacts developed over 20 years covering the league and the NFL Draft to create his hypothetical NFL future odds on who gets selected first by the Chicago Bears in the 2024 NFL Draft.

2024 NFL Draft Prospects For No. 1 Pick

The Justin Fields era in Chicago is over. After 38 starts over three seasons – and 10 wins to show for it – the former 11th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a sixth-rounder. It's not a great return on investment for the Bears.

The Justin Fields era in Chicago ended disappointingly, sparking speculation among fans about the Bears' next move at quarterback. But now they’ve moved on, and this is a draft to begin the process anew. It is QB-heavy at the top, with quarterbacks expected to go 1-2-3 in the draft, and perhaps four in the top five.

Jayden Daniels of LSU, Drake Maye of North Carolina, and J.J. McCarthy of Michigan have all had their moments in the sun, and any of them could go anywhere from second overall to fifth overall. One of them could even go No. 1.

But USC’s Caleb Williams checks all the boxes and is the presumptive pick for Chicago. He earned the highest profile grade among QBs by NFL.com’s scouts, and is No. 3 overall behind receivers Malik Nabers of LSU and Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State.

Earlier reports offered comparisons to Patrick Mahomes, but those have died down. Now he’s more comparable to Kyler Murray – for better and for worse.

It offers up the possibility that someone other than Williams is the man at No. 1. But after showcasing a cannon arm at his Pro Day, and GM Ryan Poles offering up effusive praise on his leadership traits, it seems all but certain Williams is the first name called by commissioner Ryan Goodell on April 25.
