The Kenny Pickett era of the Pittsburgh Steelers lasted just two seasons. It produced more wins than losses, but perhaps in spit of the QB play, not because of it.

Now Russell Wilson is in town, the Super Bowl-winning veteran eager to turn his career around after a subpar stint in Denver. Pittsburgh looks like a team poised to bounce back into true contention.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has used his resources of NFL contacts developed over 20 years covering the league and the NFL Draft to create his hypothetical NFL futures odds on who gets selected 20th by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2024 NFL Draft.

2024 Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Draft Prospects

With a veteran defense led by T.J. Watt, the Steelers wanted a veteran QB and got it in Wilson. They also added Justin Fields from the Bears as a possible long-term option, so they’re set at QB.

The key, now, is protecting him. Some of Pickett’s struggles can be directly tied to a sieve of an offensive line in the pass game, one that wasn’t upgraded enough this off-season. Tackle and center will be focused on at the draft.

Graham Barton of Duke is regarded as the top center in the draft, though many believe guard Jackson Powers-Johnson, a guard from Oregon, could emerge as the top center in the end. Both are possibilities at No. 20, and both provide immediate upgrades in the middle of the line.

If Alabama’s J.C. Latham is still available for the Steelers, that could force their hand to go outside.

The Steelers also traded Diontae Johnson to the Panthers, creating a hole at receiver. Several wideouts are latter-half first-rounders.

Texas’ Adonai Mitchell and LSU’s Brian Thomas each add size with a splash of speed, especially Thomas. Putting either opposite George Pickens makes up for the loss of Johnson.

A slew of cornerbacks highlight The Field, including Nate Wiggins of Clemson and Quinyon Mitchell of Toledo, if available.
