In a matchup that features two playoff teams from a year ago, the Seahawks will travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts in Week 1. The NFL spreads on this game have shifted over the last few weeks because of the injury to Colts quarterback Carson Wentz.

Since his trade to the Colts earlier this offseason, it’s been quite the start for Wentz and his new team. He injured his foot early in training camp, requiring surgery that was expected tp knock him out of action for 5-12 weeks. He rushed back from his foot injury, only to be placed on the COVID-19 reserve list that will keep him off the practice field for at least five days. His status for the Week 1 opener remains unknown, and betting sites have installed Seattle as slight favorites until more is known.

The Seahawks appear to be ready to compete for a championship with Russell Wilson & company all back in the fold. But can they prove to be a better road team than in years past? That’s a big question when it comes to NFL betting, and we shall find out right away as they will face a really talented team on both sides of the ball.

Here is everything you need to know about Colts vs. Seahawks odds heading into Week 1, as well as out NFL picks for the game.

Seahawks vs. Colts Key Matchups

Colts WR Michael Pittman vs. Seahawks CB Ahkello Witherspoon: Pittman is the top receiver for the Colts and should get a ton of action with T.Y Hilton out for the foreseeable future.

Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf vs. Colts CB Xavier Rhodes: Metcalf is one of the most physically gifted receivers in the league, but Rhodes is a big cornerback who should be able to run with him down the field.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor vs. Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner: Taylor finished the 2020 season incredibly strong, but can he have success against Wagner and one of the league’s best run defenses? The winner of this battle will likely decide the overall outcome of the game.

5 Key Seahawks vs. Colts Stats

  1. Colts have lost 7-straight Week 1 games
  2. Seahawks are 0-5 ATS in last five road games
  3. Seahawks have won 8 of last 9 games in September
  4. The Under has hit in 7 of last 9 games for Seahawks
  5. Colts have won 5-straight games against NFC opponents

Seahawks vs. Colts Player Prop To Consider

Michael Pittman Jr., to score a TD

Odds: +175 on DraftKings

Pittman scored just one touchdown last season, but he has now been thrust into the No. 1 wide receiver spot for the Colts. Carson Wentz is scheduled to play in this game, which makes it even likelier that Pittman gets into the end zone against one of the league’s worst cornerback rooms.

Seahawks vs. Colts Moneyline

With the Colts having so much uncertainly in their offense right now, it’s hard to pick them on the moneyline, even though they are at home. Seattle isn’t usually a strong road team, but it has had success under Pete Carroll in September over the last few seasons.

Considering that the Seahawks have much more stability in their offense and especially at quarterback, it’s just tough to pick against them. Take the Seahawks at -145 on BetMGM.

Seahawks vs Colts Point Spread

If you are thinking about betting the Seahawks on the moneyline, considering taking the point spread as well. Sportsbooks have the line either at -2.5 or -3 right now. While it’s true that many games are decided by a field goal or less, this line seems a bit too low.

While the expectation is that Wentz will start, his practice time with his new team has been limited due to his foot injury and his recent appearance on the COVID-19 reserve list. Indianapolis’s defense is good enough to make Seattle sweat; it’s not good enough to hold them under 24 points. For that reason, we like the Seahawks to win and cover in the first game of the season. Take the Seahawks at DraftKings.

Seahawks vs. Colts Totals

Our general feel for this game is that the Colts could struggle to put up points. With the team now missing their top two left tackles and All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson coming off foot surgery, there is a chance that this once elite offensive line is going to need some time to get healthy and gel.

If the Colts could even score 20 points, that would be a surprise, which is why betting apps have the total set where it is. Seattle’s defense finished the season really strong last year and they finally have a healthy Jamal Adams to pair with Bobby Wagner. That could spell trouble for the Colts in this game. Take the under at FanDuel as both teams might struggle to put up points out of the gate.
