College Football Week 9 Best Bets To Back Today

College Football 2024 Week 9 Odds, Predictions, Other Bets To Make Today 1

Friday, October 25
Louisville at Boston College, 7:30 p.m. (ESPN)

Buzz: Billy O’Brien and his BC Eagles gained plenty of buzz early in the season. But injuries and reality have caught up to BC. The Eagles found themselves down 28-0 before making a run last week. Louisville fell short against Miami, as the teams combined for 97 points. Weather won't be a factor in Chestnut Hill Friday night. We don't expect a similar type of game for either team. The Eagles are playing at home. Louisville has failed to cover the spread in each of its last nine October games as a road favorite. And BC has won outright 8 stright October home games against non-AP-ranked teams.

Best Bet: Boston College +7 (-108) at DraftKings

Friday, October 25
Boise State at UNLV, 10:30 p.m. (CBSSN)

Buzz: The Las Vegas Strip doesn’t need any more wattage, but these 2 teams have a real shot to combine for triple digits on the scoreboard. The No. 17 Broncos (6-1) are short 2.5-point favorites. UNLV is also 6-1. Both teams have stacked cupcakes, but the tell here is Boise State’s 37-34 loss to Oregon. That’s about as high a quality loss as you’ll ever find. Last team with the ball wins. And this game carries significant weight for the winner, who will take a giant step toward  on the journey to winning the Mountain West title and earning the automatic CFB playoff bid slotted for the best “Group of Five” team. The favorite has won Boise State's last 13 games. The road team has covered in each of past 5 UNLV-Boise State matchups. Also, 8 of 9 Boise State games have gone over their total. And games at Allegiant Stadium average 72.8 total points.

Best Bet: Over 65 Points (-110) at DraftKings

Saturday, October 26
Oklahoma at Ole Miss, 12 p.m. (ESPN)

Buzz: The wheels have come off the Sooner Schooner. Oklahoma chickened out in a 35-9 loss to the USC Gamecocks. The Lane Train derailed in recent weeks, losing 2 of 3 before the bye. Neither team is going to make the SEC title game, but the winner here still has a long shot at the playoff. And with the extra time off to game-plan for a reeling Oklahoma team, Ole Miss should roll at home.

Best Bet: Ole Miss -19.5 (-110) at DraftKings

Saturday, October 26
Illinois at Oregon, 3:30 p.m. (ABC)

Buzz: B1G teams have struggled on the West Coast this season, save for Penn State. The Illini upset Michigan at home on Saturday and are 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference, A win would put them squarely in the B1G title game conversation. But No. 1 Oregon (7-0, 4-0) is manhandling opponents on both sides of the ball. The Ducks are No. 1 for the first time since 2012. The Ducks got past against Ohio State and then saw their defense run it up in a 35-0 shutout at Purdue. Now that they hold the No. 1 spot in the nation, they don't want to risk losing it. Illinois has been tough but will be outside its element in Eugene and will have trouble scoring, never mind moving the ball.

Best Bet: Oregon -21.5 (-110) at DraftKings

Saturday, October 26
Missouri at Alabama, 3:30 p.m. (ABC)

Buzz: Now we get to the “loser is eliminated” stage of the college football season. The loser here is all but certain to miss the SEC title game and the college football playoff. With Alabama's demise in Knoxville Saturday, the Tigers might have a shot for the upset here. Mizzou (6-1, 2-1 in the SEC) beat Auburn 21-17 Saturday. Mizzou has an issue with injury at QB. Starting QB Brady Cook injured his ankle and was replaced by QB Drew Pyne. The Tide sputtered on offense all night against the Vols.

Best Bet: Under 56.5 Points (-110) at DraftKings

Saturday, October 26
Texas at Vanderbilt, 4:15 p.m. (SEC Network)

Buzz: Vanderbilt will be celebrating its win over Alabama for another 50 years. Their season is complete. Texas found itself in the Dawg House against a fierce Georgia defense. Neither Quinn Ewers nor Arch Manning could find daylight. The Longhorns’ formidable front on both sides of the ball will scarily dominate this game. Big lines have been a problem in the SEC this season. Texas won’t be taking any chances after what happened to ‘Bama in Nashville 3 weeks ago. Or to itself last week. This number moved 2.5 points since Saturday, with oddsmakers getting money on Vandy to cover at home. But that's a big move. And Vandy struggled to get past Ball State this week.

Best Bet: Texas -18.5 (-110) at DraftKings

Saturday, October 26
West Virginia at Arizona, 6 p.m. (FS1)

Buzz: The ‘Cats are stuck in the middle of the Big 12. They’re aiming for a possible bowl bid. The Mountaineers will be out of their element in the desert. Both teams should be able to score. And the last team with the ball may win this. ESPN gives West Virginia just a 52.9% chance to win this game, about as close as one can get. Neither team has had much success on the line. West Virginia is coming off a 45-18 home loss to Kansas State and is 2-5 ATS. Arizona was favored in its 34-7 loss to Colorado and is just 1-6. ATS. Both teams were beaten soundly by Kansas State in their only mutual matchup this season.

Best Bet: Arizona -2 (-110) at DraftKings

Saturday, October 26
Florida State at Miami, 7 p.m. (ESPN)

Buzz: The Wide Right Bowl this season features 2 programs heading in opposite directions. The 7-0 Canes outlasted Louisville 52-45 Saturday. The Seminoles dropped 3 straight to open the season and are now 1-5 in the ACC games. Normally, we’d shy away from the Canes on such a big number. But this one is always personal. And point differential may well matter come ACC tiebreaker time. We locked this one in at Miami -18. It has since grown to 20.5.

Best Bet: Miami -18 (-110) at DraftKings

Saturday, October 26
Penn State at Wisconsin, 7:30 p.m. (NBC)

Buzz: The Nittany Lions are 6-0 in the Big Ten. They visit the madhouse that is Camp Randall Stadium in Madison for the NBC Big Ten Game of the Week. Penn State rolled into LA and upset the USC Trojans last week 33-30 in OT. James Franklin has won both of his road games this season. And Penn State should dominate on both sides of the line here. A slow, methodical Penn State offense will wear down the Badgers in the 2nd half. The Lions are averaging 5.2 yards per carry. That's gotta hurt. Wisconsin celebrated its win at Northwestern like it was the Rose Bowl. This line opened at 10-5 and tightened to a more palatable 7 points.

Best Bet: Penn State -7 (-110) at DraftKings

Saturday, October 26
LSU at Texas A&M, 7:30 p.m. (ABC)

Buzz: Brian Kelly has righted the ship in Baton Rouge, winning 6 straight after a Week 1 loss to USC.  Garrett Nussmeier threw for 233 yards and hit on 23 of 34 attempts in LSU's 34-10 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks. Texas A&M stopped Mississippi State Saturday 34-24 at home. The Aggies enjoyed a balanced attack, with Conner Weigman throwing for 217 yards and Le’Veon Moss carrying the ball 17 times for 65 yards. LSU has proven to be a tough out on the road, winning at Arkansas and South Carolina this season. Both teams need a win to stay perfect in the SEC and keep an inside edge on a spot in the conference title game.

Best Bet: LSU +3 (-110) at DraftKings
