NFL 2025 First Coach Fired Odds: Mike McDaniel's Seat Heats Up

Most NFL head coaches who needed to remind folks on why they’re head coaches did not do that in Week 1 of the 2025 season.
Mike McDaniel’s Dolphins, Brian Daboll’s Giants and Kevin Stefanski’s Browns all came up short in their season openers. There is time to prove themselves, though the clock may be ticking for several coaches.
Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has updated his weekly odds as to which coach is first to be shown the door in 2025:

Familiar Names Top List In 2025
Several returning coaches from last season’s hot seat are again facing intense pressure. Here’s a breakdown:
Mike McDaniel, Dolphins (+325)
Buzz: We’ll start with the most notable. Mike McDaniel is a decent 28-23 through three seasons in Miami. But the team took a step backward in 2024, so the light got a little brighter in south Florida.
Week 1 certainly didn’t help. The high-octane Dolphins were humbled 33-8 by the Colts. Daniel Jones and Indy outgained Tua Tagovailoa and Miami 418-211 and dominated in time of possession and first downs.
Miami has an opportunity to reset and show its hopeful self when it hosts the Patriots in Week 2. If that doesn’t go well, its Week 3 game at Buffalo follows.
Brian Daboll, Giants (+375)
Buzz: Brian Daboll of the Giants and Kevin Stefanski of the Browns were regulars on the odds board in 2024. Both survived, but neither were able to get a win out of their team in Week 1.
The Giants managed just 231 yards of offense in Russell Wilson’s first game, and were nearly doubled-up by the rival Commanders in a 21-6 loss. Another rivalry game looms in Dallas for Week 2.
Kevin Stefanski, Browns (+450)
Buzz: It’s tough to blame Kevin Sefanski for the Browns’ 17-16 home defeat to the rival Bengals. Kicker Andre Szmyt had a nightmare first NFL game, missing an extra point and a 34-yard FG attempt in a one-point defeat. Cleveland’s defense did great vs. Joe Burrow, but the offense dropped far too many passes, two of which were deflected by WRs into the hands of Bengals defenders.
Callahan, Taylor Still On Board
Buzz: Brian Callahan is only in his second season with the Titans. The team went 3-14 last season, bad enough to get Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. The overmatched Titans hung in at Denver before falling in a 20-12 decision. The leash may be slightly longer, though the Titans managed just 133 total yards.
Zac Taylor of the Bengals got a Week 1 win, but much of it was due to the Browns’ self-sabotaging. Todd Bowles of the Buccaneers, Shane Steichen of the Colts and Jonathan Gannon of the Cardinals, all on the initial preseason odds board, distanced themselves with Week 1 victories.
