Tip 1 - 3:45 Beverley - Ventura Express

It’s over two years since Ventura Express won but the good news is that it was over course and distance and he’s in good form after solid runs at Pontefract and York this year. The nine-year-old has two wins and a second over C&D, as well as a fifth and a fourth at higher grades than today, and should benefit from his mark being the lowest it’s been for over five years.

Tip 2 - 4:15 Beverley - Wardlaw

We’ll overlook Wardlaw’s latest run, where he was third of three, a mere 75 lengths behind the winner. Being dropped just one pound won’t make a jot of difference if running like that, but the two previous runs provide some optimism. He was a close second at Lingfield and Sandown, with the first of those a fairly hot race, with the third and fourth home winning next time out. Hood is reached for to get him going quicker than in previous races and could do the trick.

Tip 3 - 5:11 Tramore - Luker’s Tipple

Gavin Cromwell has wasted little time in sending Luker’s Tipple over fences after a pair of wins over smaller obstacles. Formerly a frustrating sort, he was winless with seven runner-up finishes to his name from his first 14 runs over timber before dotting up by 31 lengths in a Downpatrick maiden. He followed that up with a cosy win at Sligo last week. Now rated 120, he’ll take a lot of stopping if continuing his progress as a chaser. Killeemore Lad looks the main danger, but was put in his place last time out by a 124-rated rival.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
