Thursday Wimbledon Women's Semifinal Predictions & Best Bets

Ons Jabeur and Tatjana Maria -  8:30 AM ET

Ons Jabeur and Tatjana Maria are both first-time grand slam semifinalists, reaching this inspired career milestone on the luscious lawns of the All England Club. Jabeur’s run was to be expected. Maria’s has surprised many.

Having entered the tournament as the second overall favorite, Jabeur’s run validates the market’s favorable tennis odds. The 27-year-old Tunisian has been knocking on the door of grand slam success for some time, including Wimbledon’s, ever since reaching the quarters for the first time last year.

Jabeur won her biggest career title in Madrid two months ago. Then, she picked up the Berlin title during the grass-court swing. She’s dropped just one of 11 sets played in five matches; that happened in the quarters, forcing a come-from-behind win over Marie Bouzkova, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Jabeur presents a mismatch for Maria on paper. Jabeur’s form is impeccable. She also has the 2-1 head-to-head over her 34-year-old German counterpart, who ranks outside the Top 100 and has never previously advanced beyond the second round of a grand slam.

Predictably, Jabeur is the runaway favorite with a unanimously projected 5.5 games handicap and a distinct lean (juiced) towards Jabeur. The total is projected between 18.5 and 19.5 games, depending on the preferred sports betting site. By these odds, it’s quite clear: Jabeur is set to crush it. Do you agree?

Simona Halep vs Elena Rybakina-  9:45 AM ET

One would think Simona Halep has somewhere more important to be by the way she is racing through the tournament at warp speed, dispatching her opponents with brutal efficiency. She took nearly an hour to dismiss Paula Badosa 6-1, 6-2 in the R16. She was similarly ruthless with a 6-2, 6-4 quarterfinal win over Amanda Anisimova.

The 2019 Wimbledon champion will face first-time semifinalist Elena Rybakina for a spot in the final. Rybakina outlasted Ajla Tomljanovic in three sets to advance.

Thursday Wimbledon Women’s Semifinal Picks, Predictions & Best Bets (July 7) 1

Although she’s been convincing in her wins, winning 10 of 11 sets, Rybakina’s milestone has been helped by a favorable draw that’s been devoid of a seeded player until now. Halep will be her first real test, one in which she could be found wanting. That’s how it looks at least with the betting sites.

Head-to-head, they’ve had competitive matches that have gone the distance. But the way Halep is playing right now, she looks unbeatable. As such, Halep is the firm favorite. Interestingly, the game's handicap is set to 4.5 and juiced towards Rybakina, while the total is set anywhere between 20.5 and 21.5 games. Compared to the first match, this one is expected to be more competitive.

Best Bet: Halep -4.5 at (+105) with BetMGM Sportsbook
