ATP Wednesday Wimbledon Day 10 Predictions & Best Bets

Cristian Garin vs Nick Kyrgios -  9:45 AM ET

Will Nick Kyrgios change his narrative? Words and phrases such as “villain,” “bad boy of tennis“, “controversial,” and “mercurial”, to name a few, are often brandished wherever he goes. Words that inevitably overshadow his undeniable talent and quality as one of the game’s most naturally gifted shot-makers and biggest servers.

This week, the Aussie has a chance to break new ground by reaching the semis at the All England Club. He reaches his second career Wimbledon quarterfinals (third overall at a grand slam), though he was made to work for it in a heated four-set battle with Stefanos Tsitsipas in the R32. Then, in a five-set marathon against Brandon Nakashima in the R16.

Kyrgios will battle Chile’s Cristian Garin for a place in the final four. On paper, this might seem like a straightforward contest. However, it is anything but that. Garin is playing with house money. He wasn’t expected to go past the first round after being drawn against last year’s Wimbledon finalist, Matteo Berrettini, let alone reach the quarterfinals. But Berrettini tested positive for COVID-19, and that was that. The Italian withdrew. The draw burst wide open. Garin seized his opportunity.

This is unchartered territory for Kyrgios and Garin. The Aussie is the betting favorite across sports betting sites and the player that’s expected to win. Garin, however, must fancy his chances too, even though the odds are stacked against him.

Best Bet: Garin +5.5 at (-125) with Caesars Sportsbook

Rafael Nadal vs Taylor Fritz - 9:45 AM ET

Taylor Fritz was a winner in Eastbourne (grass), and he takes an eight-match winning streak on grass into his first-ever grand slam quarterfinals. His good form is an auspicious sign – let’s face it, he’ll need all the help he can get against the 22-time Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal. However, it’s worth noting that Fritz hasn’t faced a seeded player yet

Beating Nadal is a big ask. Fritz is one of few to have done it, albeit against an injured Nadal in the final of Indian Wells – his biggest title win to date. Now, however, he must do it all over again if he hopes to reach his first-ever grand slam semifinal. Can he do it against a much healthier, more motivated Nadal?

Best Bet: Nadal -4.5 at (-105) with BetMGM Sportsbook

Ajla Tomljanovic vs Elena Rybakina - 8:30AM ET

Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina is through to the quarterfinals without dropping a set. She will take on Australian Ajla Tomljanovic for a place in the final four.

This match is likely to come down to intangibles, such as nerves, because neither player has ever made the semifinal of a grand slam. Betting apps are giving Rybakina a slight advantage, underscored by a 1-0 H2H edge. However, Tomljanovic can’t be overlooked. This is her second straight Wimbledon quarterfinal appearance.

Best Bet: Rybakina moneyline at (-175) with Caesars Sportsbook

Amanda Anisimova vs Simona Halep - 8:30 AM ET

Former Wimbledon champion Simona Halep is set to face her former coach Darren Cahill’s newest protégé, Amanda Anisimova, for a place in the final four.

They met last month at the Bad Hamburg Open quarterfinals, where Halep absolutely destroyed Anisimova 6-2, 6-1. One expects a more competitive matchup this time, but Halep is still the smart bet.

Best Bet: Halep -3.5 at (-120) with Caesars Sportsbook
