The 2023 Wimbledon Championships will get underway on Monday, July 3 at the luscious lawns of the All England Club, and, as ever, we’re on top of all the action here at Bookies.com, bringing you daily predictions and tennis picks from the world’s oldest and most prestigious grand slam.

World No. 2 Novak Djokovic, the defending gentlemen’s singles champion, will lead a stacked bottom half of the men’s draw into Monday’s first-round action. He will play the opening match on Centre Court against Pedro Cachin – in keeping with Wimbledon’s venerable traditions that lend gravitas to the tournament.

Elsewhere, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will lead the top half of the women’s draw as she opens Day 1 play on Court 1 against Lin Zhu.

After Djokovic and Swiatek, we’re spotting other fascinating contests from Monday’s tennis-betting card for our Wimbledon Day 1 Predictions, complete with tennis odds from a stable of trusted betting apps

Novak Djokovic vs Pedro Cachin

It’s not for nothing that sportsbooks are unanimously tipping Djokovic as the odds-on favorite at Wimbledon, with FanDuel Sportsbook serving him up on -150 odds to triumph when all is said and done on the hallowed grounds of the All England Club.

Djokovic, flush off a title-winning run at Roland Garros, is gunning for an eighth Wimbledon title (fifth straight) and a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title with overall record holder Margaret Court.

He hasn’t lost on Centre Court since 2013, and he takes a 28 consecutive match-winning record at the Championships into this first-round encounter with Argentina’s Cachin, a clay specialist who’s spent his career grafting mainly on the Challenger Tour and is making his Wimby main draw debut at 28 years of age. Talk about drawing the short straw!

What hope does Cachin have against Djokovic? When the inherent disparity between them is so glaringly obvious. The answer: Slim, if any at all (respectfully). Color the world shocked if Djokovic doesn’t reel off a straight-set win here.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Djokovic -10.5 -104 at FanDuel

Taylor Fritz vs Yannick Hanfmann

Taylor Fritz’s firm odds of -450 (with BetMGM and FanDuel) to win this match at the expense of Yannick Hanfmann belie the American’s concerning lack of form ahead of Wimbledon, where he made his maiden grand slam quarterfinal appearance last season (l. to Rafael Nadal). Thus, we’re circling this match for a potential early upset.

Fritz went 2-2 on grass in June, punctuated by second-round exits in Stuttgart and Queen’s Club. And, in their only meeting, Hanfmann came away the 6-4, 6-1 winner at the 2023 Rome Masters.

In addition, Hanfmann, 31, is living his best life right now. He is coming off a solid 4-2 run on grass, capped off by a semi-final appearance at the Mallorca Open where he beat defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round to claim his first-ever career Top 5 scalp.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Hanfmann to win +330 at Caesars

Nick Kyrgios vs David Goffin

Nick Kyrgios surprised himself and the tennis-betting world by reaching the Wimbledon final last year – his maiden Grand Slam final. Though the mercurial Aussie lost to Djokovic in four sets, it was a watershed moment in an otherwise tumultuous career, sparking a (long overdue) desire to one day join the exclusive championship circle at the All England Club.

Kyrgios’ first match of the season in Stuttgart resulted in a loss to Yibing Wu, 7-5, 6-3. Despite the rusty debut, however, Kyrgios is the firm favorite over David Goffin with BetMGM pricing the Aussie at -160 to win this R128 match.

Is the market being overly optimistic in Kyrgios’ case? At the expense of Goffin, who – lest everyone’s forgotten – reached the quarterfinals here last year. Granted, few would be surprised if Kyrgios does indeed come through. Such is his talent on grass. But the same could be said of Goffin, who can’t be dismissed out of hand either.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Over 39.5 -118 at BetMGM

Iga Swiatek vs Lin Zhu

Swiatek’s least successful major is Wimbledon. Nevertheless, the World No. 1’s championship pedigree and impeccable form make her the player to beat as we look at the tennis odds board, with FanDuel installing her at +390 to clinch the title.

Swiatek warmed up at the Bad Homburg Open where she reached the semi-finals before withdrawing (food poising). Although her run was cut short, she left no doubt about her overall form and confidence ahead of Wimbledon.

She’ll need it as well. Dangerous floater Lin Zhu, who is 4-2 on grass and coming off a semi-final appearance in Birmingham, looms as a potential early stumbling block.

Zhu, more likely than not, will be a tougher matchup than the betting sites would have it. Thus, expect her to win a set at the very least.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Over 17.5 -130 at Caesars

Jessica Pegula vs Lauren Davis

The All-American showdown between Jessica Pegula and Lauren Davis is skewed conspicuously in the former’s favor – and for good reason.

Overall, the 29-year-old America has been one of the most consistent players on the WTA Tour in the last few seasons and especially at the majors. Pegula also boasts a 3-2 head-to-head edge over Davis, which is underscored by a three-match winning streak.

Pegula ‘s Wimbledon tune-up in Eastbourne saw her reach the quarterfinals, whereas Davis’ preparations resulted in a 0-2 record in main draw play after crashing out of the first round in Birmingham and Eastbourne.

That said, Pegula can’t take anything for granted. Davis is a consummate competitor that should give her a run for her money.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Davis +5.5 -136 at FanDuel

Sofia Kenin vs Coco Gauff

The second all-American showdown features the 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin and teen phenom Coco Gauff.

Kenin has seen her ranking slip outside of the Top 100 due to a combination of injuries and an inability to deal with the high expectations that were placed on her since taking home the crown Down Under.

Gauff is learning to navigate similar expectations since reaching the last 16 in her Wimbledon debut in 2019 as a 15-year-old. Last year, she came close to the game’s apex with a maiden major final appearance at the French Open.

Gauff is the bookies’ favorite to win this fascinating opener. However, Kenin, who had to qualify for this tournament, has all the trappings of a dangerous floater that could deliver the tournament’s biggest surprise on day one.

Wimbledon Best Bet: Kenin to win +330 at Caesars
