BT Sport are doing absolutely nothing to earn extra subscriptions by opting to televise Manchester United’s clash against Sheffield United on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils have not been particularly enjoyable to watch this term and are likely to grind out an FA Cup win against League One opponents who are once again underwhelming their own fans this term.

Nigel Adkins’ side started as League One favourites in August, although the Yorkshire side sit eighth in the table and come into this game off the back of a 3-2 home reverse against Peterborough United.

Previously to this, the Blades had enjoyed four consecutive wins, skinning Oldham, Coventry and Scunthorpe by 1-0 scorelines before a 3-1 victory against Bradford. However, the defence was exposed against Posh and United can do something similar.

Much has been written about Louis van Gaal’s difficulties this term, although the exit from Champions League and Capital One Cup means that the FA Cup takes on added significance this time around.

Performances have improved in the past two weeks, with a goalless draw against Chelsea followed by a 2-1 win over Swansea and Anthony Martial could be too hot to handle for the Blades.

It’s also an opportunity for Memphis Depay to prove his worth, while Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini are also likely to play a part in this match.

For all of United’s issues, they sit fifth in the table and just three points behind a Tottenham side supposedly in contention for the title. United don’t concede many at Old Trafford and the stage could be set for that man Martial to light things up.
