The UFC returns for its second Pay-Per-View event in a row, and this one is a real doozy for fans of UFC betting opportunities at betting sites. UFC 268 features two title fights and a host of other bouts that could easily headline a Fight Night card.

In the co-main event, newly crowned strawweight queen Rose Namajunas defends her belt in an immediate rematch with the woman who she took the title from, Zhang Weili. Then, in the main event, welterweight champion and current No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world Kamaru Usman puts his title on the line in a rematch against former interim champion Colby Covington. It’s a huge event with big fights, so let's get to it.

Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington Fight Analysis

Usman and Covington met for the first time nearly two years ago at UFC 245, where Usman secured a fifth-round TKO victory after breaking Covington’s jaw late in the fight. Since then, Usman has gone on a warpath through the division, defending his title three more times, including two dominant performances earlier this year. Conversely, Covington has only fought once since losing to Usman, a dominant showing over former champion Tyron Woodley that has looked less impressive as time has passed, given how Woodley’s career has turned.

Usman has an accomplished amateur wrestling background and clinch control and top position remain stalwarts of his game, but the real key to his success over the past few years has been the emergence of his striking ability. Usman has a sharp jab that he uses to dictate fights and serious power in his hands when he chooses to sit down on his punches.

Similarly, Covington also hails from an amateur wrestling background. However, unlike Usman, he employs his wrestling very proactively, preferring to take opponents down and grind them out. As a compliment to his cardio-forward grappling game, Covington has also adopted a high-paced volume striking approach on the feet with the overall effect of wearing his opponents out over the course of the bout.

Usman vs. Covington UFC 268 Best Bet

When Usman and Covington first fought, Usman was a very slight favorite at betting apps, and I liked a bet on the underdog in what I viewed as a 50/50 fight. Now with a TKO victory over Covington under his belt, Usman has ballooned to a substantial favorite over the challenger, and once again, I like a value play on Covington.

Though Usman won their first fight, over time the story of the bout has been greatly distorted. Up until the stoppage, Covington and Usman were going back-and-forth in an incredibly close fight. Since then, Usman has, I believe, declined. That’s an odd thing to say about someone who is the frontrunner for Fighter of the Year, but Usman is 34 years old and seems to be slowing down just a tick.

I still view this fight as extremely close between the two and as such, the value of Covington at +260 with BetMGM is undeniable.

Other UFC 268 Odds To Back

Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Chandler: In a featured lightweight bout on the main card, former interim champion Justin Gaethje takes on former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler in a bout that MMA fans have been clamoring for. Both men come from a wrestling background but prefer to strike and strike with enormous power. However, only one of them is actually an elite fighter, and that man is Gaethje.

Over the last two years, Gaethje has transformed from the best action-fighter in the world to simply one of the best in the world and I expect him to get his hand raised early. Gaethje by KO/TKO at +100 at FOX Bet. is the play.

Frankie Edgar vs. Marlon Vera: In a featured bantamweight bout on the main card, future Hall of Famer Frankie Edgar continues his 135-pound campaign when he takes on rising prospect Marlon Vera. Both men can do it all, mixing in striking and grappling effectively, and in a different time this might have been an exceptional fight.

However, at 40 years old, Edgar is no longer at his peak and has obviously lost both a step in speed and in durability. Vera should be able to win this one handily. Vera at -162 at FOX Bet. -162 is the play.
