Odds up to date as of January 4, 2024

Aaron Ramsdale has lost his place in the Arsenal team this season, and there is speculation over whether the England goalkeeper will find a new club during the January transfer window. The 25-year-old has been replaced by David Raya, signed from Brentford in the summer, between the sticks at the Emirates. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the player was looking for a move to a team where he can enjoy first-team football.

Several football betting sites have created a betting market with odds on Ramsdale’s club after the January transfer window closes, with the bookies anticipating that he is most likely to remain at Arsenal for the duration of the campaign. However, with Euro 2024 looming large on the horizon and his place in the England squad in question, it’s possible that a move could be on the cards, with Chelsea and Newcastle among the possibilities.

Ramsdale Likely to Stay at Arsenal According to Odds

Aaron Ramsdale signed for Arsenal in August 2021 and quickly established himself as the first-choice keeper at the club. The goalkeeper arrived from Sheffield United after an impressive stint at the Yorkshire club, with the former Bournemouth stopper helping the Gunners to a fifth-placed finish in his first campaign.

The following season, Ramsdale played a key role in Arsenal’s title assault, which ended up seeing them finish second behind Manchester City. There was little to no indication that Mikel Arteta was keen to upgrade the England stopper early in the summer as he signed a new contract in May. However, David Raya’s arrival from Brentford has led to a campaign of bench-warming.

It would appear Ramsdale is content to compete for a first-team spot at the north London club right now, with the odds at most new betting sites suggesting there is a high probability that the 25-year-old will remain at the Emirates to fight for his place in the team until the summer at the very least.

Chelsea Might Be Keen to Upgrade Sanchez

Chelsea have already spent a bucketload of cash on players in the past few transfer windows, but they are regarded as one of the most likely clubs to sign Aaron Ramsdale this month, according to most UK betting sites. Perhaps Mauricio Pochettino has identified the goalkeeper as someone who would be an upgrade on summer signing Robert Sanchez at Stamford Bridge.

Sanchez has actually been injured since 10 December, with Serbian keeper Dorde Petrovic deputising between the sticks, although it’s possible that Ramsdale’s availability might pique the interest of a club who could be willing to assure him of first-team football at a highly ambitious football outfit.

Chelsea have struggled to get the No. 1 position right since Petr Cech, with Ramsdale representing a long-term option in goal, and he would surely be open to the prospect of remaining in the capital.

Could Newcastle Make Ramsdale Their Pope Replacement?

Nick Pope is currently out of action with a shoulder injury at Newcastle United, with Martin Dubravka deputising. However, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Tyneside outfit interested in loaning Aaron Ramsdale in a bid to strengthen their goalkeeper department.

The latest odds at betting apps suggest Newcastle are among the clubs most likely to sign Ramsdale in the January transfer window, although we know that Eddie Howe rates Nick Pope highly even if Ramsdale is higher in the pecking order for England.

Ramsdale would need assurances from any club, including Newcastle, that he would be the first-choice option should he make a switch from Arsenal, although the north-east club would be able to put together a strong financial package for the player.

Wolves and Nottingham Forest Next In The Betting

Wolverhampton Wanderers currently have Jose Sa between the sticks and might not necessarily want to change things, but they are fairly prominent in the betting market when it comes to capturing Aaron Ramsdale in January.

Similarly, Nottingham Forest might show an interest, with summer signing from Arsenal Matt Turner having made a recent mistake against Manchester United, and the capture of Ramsdale would be a real statement signing for a club who have recently replaced Steve Cooper with Nuno Espirito Santo.
