Manchester City have breezed into the Champions League last 16 and they were able to record six successive wins in Group G. This included a comeback victory against RB Leipzig and last season's winners are regarded as the team to beat, although there are lots of lively dangers lurking when it comes to the knockout stage.

The bookies certainly respect the chances of Bayern Munich who comfortably won Group A, with Harry Kane having enjoyed a flying start to his time at the Allianz Arena. It's easy to see the Bavarian side going deep in the competition and they are rock solid in the market.

Real Madrid are another team with a proud Champions League pedigree, with Carlo Ancelotti's side having racked up a series of wins in Group C including a 4-2 victory against Napoli. Jude Bellingham is another England international who is thriving in the competition and Los Merengues are third favourites in the outright betting.

Arsenal are the only other Premier League representative in the Champions League, with the Gunners comfortably going through as group winners, although Manchester United and Newcastle United have exited the competition.

Barcelona and PSG are next in the betting, although Paris Saint-Germain could be set for a difficult last sixteen encounter after finishing second behind Borussia Dortmund in the group, with Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid also respected in the market.

Manchester City Favourites to Conquer Europe Again

New betting sites anticipate that Manchester City are the likeliest team to win the 2023/24 Champions League, although their odds indicate that they have a lower than 50% probability of retaining their European crown.

The Cityzens were head and shoulders above the other teams in Europe last term, and the champions won all their Group G matches. However, there have been a few setbacks for Pep Guardiola's side on the domestic front, something that might give the opposition some encouragement. Before last season, the north-west side were unable to land a victory in the competition.

Football betting sites have installed City at the head of the market and there weren't any teams in Europe who were able to live with them last season.

Can Harry Kane Fire Bayern to European Success?

Bayern Munich finally got their man when capturing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, and the German champions hope the striker can make all the difference in the Champions League. The forward made the switch to Bayern in order to win silverware and he's scoring goals for fun in the Bundesliga, while he has also netted four times in Europe.

Bayern are second favourites to win the Champions League, and Thomas Tuchel's side deserve plenty of respect, with the Bavarian side losing to Manchester City in the same competition last term, although they actually acquitted themselves well over two legs.

Tuchel has previously guided Paris St-Germain to a Champions League final, with the squad packed with quality players. Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich are the heartbeat of the team in midfield, with Bayern having also made a strong start in the Bundesliga and they will be hoping to win multiple trophies this term.

Can Bellingham Inspire Real Madrid to UCL Success?

Real Madrid have been featuring at the business end of the Champions League over the past few seasons, with Carlo Ancelotti steering Los Merengues to the semi-final of the competition last term after they previously won the 2022 European Cup final. They have a strong pedigree and also made an eye-catching marquee signing in the summer.

Jude Bellingham was a wanted man before Real managed to snare the midfielder from Borussia Dortmund, with the 20-year-old now driving this team forward and adding fresh energy to a midfield where Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have been operating for several years. The youngster was once again on the scoresheet as his team beat Napoli 4-2 and this was a quality display of attacking football. The sports betting sites have Real Madrid as their third favourites and the fact that they are trading at single figure odds means that they have earned the layer's respects.

Bellingham has been getting on the scoresheet regularly and perhaps the midfield jewel can drive Los Merengues to new heights. Six straight wins in a group that also included Napoli, Braga and Union Berlin was no mean feat and their domestic form in Spain has also been strong.

Arsenal Capable of Making a Splash in Europe

Arsenal were comfortable winners of Champions League Group B, with four wins and a draw being achieved in a section which also included PSV Eindhoven, Lens and Sevilla.

The campaign kicked off with a thrilling 4-0 victory over PSV and they recovered well after losing 2-1 away to Lens, with Mikel Arteta's side potentially bound for the business end of the season.

Arsenal are now into the last 16 as group winners, with the Gunners putting on an attacking show when thrashing Lens 6-0 at the Emirates. There were six different players on the scoresheet including a rejuvenated Kai Havertz, with no team wanting to clash with a Gunners side who have been able to overcome Manchester City in a Premier League clash at the Emirates this term.

Arsenal certainly have the squad to go deep in this competition, with the team averaging three goals per group game and they are also looking defensively solid, with David Raya continuing to be preferred over Aaron Ramsdale in goal.

Barcelona Regarded as Champions League Outsiders

Barcelona might have claimed top spot in Group H. although the football betting apps are prepared to offer odds of 14/1 that the Catalan side win this season's Champions League.

Xavi's team pipped Porto in Group H after four victories and two defeats, with Barca having lost to Shakhtar Donetsk and Royal Antwerp although the latter defeat came in a dead rubber. There were home and away victories over Porto, although domestic form has been erratic and there was a recent 4-2 home reverse at the hands of Girona.

Barcelona are clearly capable of going deep in the competition, although many of the group runners-up would certainly prefer to draw this opponent compared to the market leaders.

PSG Face Difficult Last 16 Tie for Second Season Running

Paris Saint-Germain were the favourites to win Group F after being drawn with Borussia Dortmund, Milan and Newcastle United, although Luis Enrique's side were somewhat fortunate to qualify for the last sixteen stage after recording two wins, two draws and two defeats.

PSG were grateful to Warren Zaïre-Emery for an equaliser in the final group game at the Westfalenstadion, with the seventeen-year-old's goal helping the French champions to finish above Milan on a head-to-head record. However, they now face a difficult last sixteen encounter for the second campaign in a row.

Last term, it was Porto who were able to edge them into a runner-up spot which ultimately saw them crash out at the hands of Bayern Munich. They could end up meeting the same opponent this time around, with Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona other potential opponents.
