The Championship is getting to the business end of the season, and it's clear now which teams are going to spend the next few weeks fighting to stay in England's second tier. Sheffield Wednesday are already relegated after being deducted a total of 18 points, meaning realistically just two spots have been available for teams this season.
This makes for some interesting odds on UK betting sites, as while there is always a tight race for Championship promotion, a handful of teams are currently single figures for the drop. With nothing guaranteed for even teams that came down from the Premier League last season, it’s easy to see why this is one of the most exciting football leagues in the world.
Leicester seemingly missed a golden opportunity to climb out of the relegation zone last time out when drawing with Wednesday. They followed that up with defeat to Swansea while their two closest rivals in Oxford and Portsmouth won at the weekend. Things are looking bleak at the King Power Stadium with them now four points adrift and just four games left to claw it back.
Oxford currently occupy the other remaining relegation spot but even Charlton, who are four places and five points above them, won't be breathing easy. Portsmouth have the chance to move further from drop zone with game against promotion hopefuls Ipswich Tuesday.
Championship Relegation Odds 2025/26
With very little to separate most of the relegation contenders, there'll surely be plenty of twists and turns to come throughout the season, which you can follow here with the latest odds from football betting sites. There's only five teams with a realistic chance of going down and they'll all be trying to avoid taking one of the final two places with just a few games left.
Before you punt on any team staying up or going down, why not check out what great free bets you could get your hands on with top UK betting sites.

The odds on the best betting apps tell you everything you need to know about the Championship relegation battle. Four teams were 3/1 or shorter for the drop before a ball was kicked and with only a few games left, we're still in a similar situation as a number of teams continue to scrap for every available point.
Sheffield Wednesday's relegation was almost inevitable before a ball was even kicked following significant financial issues relating to then-owner Dejphon Chansiri. After being deducted 12 points for entering administration in October, they then lost another six points in December and relegation was confirmed on 22 February after a 2-1 defeat to rivals Sheffield United.
Oxford United struggled last season, eventually surviving relegation by just four points, but they are in another dogfight this time around and have one of the worst attacks in the league, so it's no surprise they're so short with most fast withdrawal betting sites
One of the surprising names near the bottom is Leicester City, who were expected to be in the mix for an immediate Premier League return but have struggled for consistency, and a six-point deduction in February threw them right into the relegation mix.

Another pair of ex-Premier League stalwarts in Blackburn and West Brom have also found themselves battling to stay in the Championship. Both teams finished just outside the playoff spots last season, but their fortunes have done a complete 180 this time around, and now they're firmly fighting for safety.
Portsmouth spent most of last season in and around the bottom three but managed to eke out enough points in the final couple of months to remain in the EFL's top tier, and the odds at new betting sites suggest that whilst Pompey are okay for now, they're not far from needing another similar set of results this year.
