Justin Rose 2026 Masters Betting Odds: Will Play-Off Heartbreak Spur Him On?

Justin Rose

Justin Rose has enjoyed a hugely successful career that includes a US Open victory in 2013. However, that remains the Englishman’s only major success since turning pro in 1998. As far as the Masters is concerned, the 45-year-old has had several near-misses at Augusta. He entered a play-off twelve months ago after tying at the top of the leaderboard with Rory McIlroy only to miss out on a first Green Jacket after his fellow Ryder Cup star knocked in a birdie that Rose couldn’t match.

Given that, it’s no surprise that Rose is in the leading dozen contenders for 2026 - according to the latest betting sites. He’s been remarkably consistent at this fiendish course and was also second in 2017 after losing in a play-off to Sergio Garcia, which came two years after tying for runner-up.

Betting apps certainly respect his chances of once again making the cut and challenging for a top spot. But does he have what it takes to finally get over the line?

Can Rose Swap Bridesmaid Dress for Green Jacket?

Justin Rose made his Masters bow in 2003 and has a strong track record in the first major on the golf calendar. There was a tied fifth finish in 2007 and that was the first of eleven consecutive appearances at Augusta where the English player was able to make the cut. During that spell, he recorded five top-ten finishes including an outright second and a tied second.

In more recent times, Rose has proved more inconsistent. Missed cuts occurred in 2019, 2022 and 2024. However, the 2025 tournament saw the player come agonisingly close to doubling his major tally. To be beaten by Rory McIlroy was galling considering that Rose carded a final round of 66 to force a play-off, only to lose to a birdie from the Northern Irishman on the replayed 18th hole.

If the Johannesburg-born golfer bows out with just one major win to his name, he will possibly lament the fact that more titles should have been added. Since winning the US Open thirteen years ago, Rose has tied second in the Open Championship on two occasions as well as those close shaves at Augusta.

Current Form a Concern for Rose

As far as his current form is concerned, it was a typically solid effort in The Players Championship recently. The tie for 13th place not only buoyed his confidence ahead of the Masters but also elevated him into the all-time top five highest earners on the PGA Tour.

Nevertheless, he’s still available at sizeable odds to land the Green Jacket after missing the cut in roughly half the PGA Tour events he has contested this season. He has been a winner in 2026 thanks to a striking performance in the Farmers Insurance Open back in January but has struggled with his form since then.

Rounds of 70 and 80 were carded in the Arnold Palmer Invitational which left Rose with a score of +6 and a missed cut. Things didn't get much better at The Genesis Invitational where rounds of 74 and 71 led to another missed cut. Perhaps the return to form in The Players Championship will set things up nicely for his first tilt at winning a major in 2026.

Rose Ready For Masters Glory?

The main concern for potential Rose backers is that the player hasn’t landed that many wins in recent years. In 2025, there was a Fedex St. Jude Championship victory after he racked up a score of -16 over the four rounds. This was matched by J. J. Spaun and the pair contested a play-off where the former was able to win with a birdie on the third extra hole.

This play-off win will have been encouraging considering that Rose had lost the previous four to win a tournament, including that 2025 Masters showdown with Rory. Before the August FedEx St. Jude Championship win, the previous time that the Englishman had triumphed on the PGA Tour was in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am way back in 2023.

Possibly the most telling negative when considering recent major championship efforts is the fact that Rose has missed the cut in six of the previous ten major outings. That includes the 2024 Masters and the plain fact is that the Ryder Cup talisman simply isn’t getting any younger. Whether he can be in contention at Augusta over the four days is open to question, despite being relatively near the top of the market at most golf betting sites.
