Nottingham Forest suffered their fifth defeat in the space of six games when losing 2-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur, while the Tricky Trees have achieved just one victory in their past thirteen encounters.

There was a recent 5-0 humbling at Craven Cottage, and the football betting sites have priced up a Next Nottingham Forest Manager betting market, with former Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner the favourite initially.

Glasner left his role with Frankfurt in the summer after two years in charge of the team, where he led them to the Europa League trophy and the final of the DFB-Pokal in Germany. He may represent something of a gamble, and betting sites now have former Wolves and Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has the big favourite. Nuno is a known quantity in English football and has great success with Wolves. Other front-runners include former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira.

Perhaps Graham Potter might be interested in a return to top-flight management with Forest, with Rafael Benitez also among the other market leaders.

Glasner in Pole Position to Land Forest Job?

Oliver Glasner has been linked with a number of high-profile managerial roles in England before, with the 49-year-old now trading as the odds-on favourite to replace Steve Cooper. It could be that Nottingham Forest pursue a manager who was in charge of Eintracht Frankfurt between 2021-23, helping the German club to win the Europa League in 2022.

Glasner has been out of work since the end of last season and he was previously in charge at VfL Wolfsburg, helping them to qualify for the Europa League during his first season in charge. The following season, the team managed to finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League before the manager moved on to Frankfurt.

In the past, this candidate has been linked with the managerial positions at Tottenham and Glasgow Rangers, while he was even linked to Chelsea when Graham Potter was sacked. However, it remains to be seen whether he has any interest in coming to England and taking charge of a Nottingham Forest team who could be in a relegation scrap.

Will Lopetegui Return to the Premier League?

Julen Lopetegui is apparently on Nottingham Forest's radar right now, with the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager potentially the latest Spaniard to take charge of a Premier League club. The 57-year-old took charge at Molineux in November 2022, with the former Real Madrid boss replacing Bruno Lage and helping Wolves to finish in thirteenth place.

However, the difficult financial situation led to Lopetegui cutting ties with the Midlands club and he might be persuaded to take charge of Nottingham Forest if the terms are right. His track record at Wolves involved ten wins and six draws from twenty-seven matches, with the manager previously successful at Sevilla where he was able to win the Europa League in 2020.

Vieira Could Be Popular Appointment

Patrick Vieira won a huge amount of silverware with Arsenal, and the Frenchman recently took his first Premier League managerial role with Crystal Palace. He was relatively successful with the Eagles, and it came as something of a surprise when he was relieved of his duties last season, although the London outfit were without a victory in 2023.

Vieira is now potentially eyeing a return to football management, and the position of Nottingham Forest head coach is a high-profile one. Naturally, Cooper is still in charge at the time of writing, although it could be that Marinakis has sounded out the former Nice manager in the past few weeks and is the leading name with betting apps for a reason.

Forest will want to ensure they don't return to the Championship this season, and Vieira would have the majority of the campaign to make his mark and potentially change the squad in the upcoming January transfer window.

Hasenhuttl Could Be a Coup for Nottingham Forest

Ralph Hasenhuttl is currently out of work, with the Austrian having been in charge at Southampton between 2018-2022 before leaving St Mary's a year ago. The 56-year-old was a success at the south coast club, having regularly kept them in the Premier League, and he will lament the lack of financial backing that was provided during his time there.

However, Hasenhuttl could be open to a new project, and Nottingham Forest are an ambitious club aiming to cement their place among the Premier League elite. This is a manager with a pretty strong track record including a stint at RB Leipzig between 2016-18 before switching to Southampton, with the coach having lots of respect from other peers.

At the time of writing, the former RB Leipzig coach is among the favourites at new betting sites, and he might relish the chance to return to England and take charge at a club who are bidding for a second consecutive survival in the top flight.

Will Still Also Among Forest Manager Favourites

Will Still has started to emerge as a potential candidate when it comes to manager betting across England, with the 31-year-old currently in charge of French club Reims. He is a Belgian-English manager who has achieved a great deal already, and his team sit fifth in the Ligue 1 standings, with many European clubs aware of his success with a modest outfit.

Still began his time with Reims by embarking on a 14-match unbeaten run, and they were able to finish 11th in the standings last season. However, this campaign has been even more successful, with the coach having admitted he has ambitions to manage in the English Premier League.

The odds at most UK betting sites suggest that Forest might make an approach for someone who has previously been linked to West Ham, and it will be interesting to see whether his odds shorten here.

Would Forest Job Appeal To Rafael Benitez?

Rafael Benitez is regarded as a high-calibre football manager, and the Spaniard has a wealth of experience, having taken charge at clubs such as Valencia, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Inter. He was also a popular figure at Newcastle United, and some media outlets have previously suggested that he could be in line to replace Steve Cooper.

The 62-year-old is clearly fond of England, and his last job was an ill-fated reign at Everton, with Benitez being replaced by Frank Lampard after a sequence of poor performances. However, his three-year spell at St James' Park between 2016-2019 saw him gain adulation among the Toon Army after steering the Magpies back to the top flight and keeping them afloat.

Benitez, who has opened as one of the favourites with betting sites, is likely to command a huge salary to take a role at the City Ground, and it would be a big challenge to reshape a bloated squad, especially if the club found themselves in the Championship. However, he has taken charge of Newcastle in a similar position.

Could Potter Take Charge at City Ground?

This time a year ago, Graham Potter's stock was sky-high. He had Brighton punching above their weight before defecting to Chelsea, with the latter club expecting the manager to transform their fortunes and turn them into a Premier League title-challenging outfit, but things didn't work out that way in the end.

Potter instead lasted just a matter of months at Stamford Bridge and is now sitting tight and waiting for his next opportunity. The new betting sites think that this could be with Nottingham Forest, with the former Swansea boss potentially available for Cooper's position, and he might be attracted to the overall ambition.

Forest Might Swoop For Jesse Marsch

Jesse Marsch came close to taking the Southampton job last season, and betting apps think the American might now be open to the prospect of managing Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Marsch was most recently seen in the Leeds United dugout, and he was able to engineer top-flight survival at the end of the 2021/22 season with a victory away to Brentford. However, he was sacked at Elland Road in February this year, with Leeds sitting 17th, and they would eventually be relegated to the Championship.

Marsch was most impressive during his time with Red Bull Salzburg before switching to RB Leipzig where the 50-year-old lasted just 21 games in total. There's a definite chance that he could throw his hat into the ring here.
