Wales look set to be in the market for a new manager after it was reported that Craig Bellamy is in talks to become the new Burnley boss. After showing some positive signs of growth in the football they played, Wales narrowly missed out on qualification for the World Cup, but there is something to build on for the Euro qualifiers coming up.

The best betting sites in the UK have opened up a market on who will replace Bellamy, even if his departure isn’t quite yet confirmed. The early favourite is Steve Cooper, who would surely be a positive appointment. He has international experience from his England under 17 days and is available.

He is joined on the market by the likes of Rob Edwards, Eric Ramsay, Oisan Roberts, Nthan Jones and former boss Chris Coleman.

Would Steve Cooper Be Interested?

Steve Cooper being available is an obvious contender for the role, if he was willing to take over. He had success in international tournaments with England’s victorious under-17 team before moving into club management.

He came out of all of his roles with Swansea, Nottingham Forest and Leicester in credit, particularly getting Forest promoted back to the Premier League. He is likely to be of interest, and his odds at most betting apps would suggest he is a clear contender.

Rob Edwards Available After Leaving Wolves

Long touted as a manager to watch, Rob Edwards’ move to Wolves in November of last year ended in disaster after he was unable to turn around the team’s fortunes. It was perhaps a harsh sacking, given the state Wolves were in when he took over from Vitor Pereira, but nevertheless he is back on the market.

The former Wales defender is certain to be on the radar to take charge of the national team, but it remains to be seen whether he wants another crack at the Premier League before moving into international management. The odds at most £5 deposit betting sites would suggest he is a real contender.

Eric Ramsay An Outside Shot

Eric Ramsay isn’t a name familiar to most football fans, but he hit the headlines earlier this year when he took over at West Brom in January and lasted just nine games before being given his marching orders. That was a sharp comedown from a couple of strong years at Minnesota United, his first managerial job after plying his trade as a backroom staff member at the likes of Manchester United and Swansea City.

Crucially for this role, Ramsay also spent six months as an assistant coach with Wales under Rob Page in 2023, so he may be a favourable choice for the Welsh FA after already garnering some experience at international level.

Nathan Jones Could Be a Wanted Man

What to make of Nathan Jones’ career in management? He has a history over overperforming with teams on a smaller budget and then being found wanting when moving to clubs with more ambition. However, there is no doubt his reputation has been enhanced once again by his spell at Charlton following an abysmal run at Southampton.

The Welshman could be looked at as someone who might be able to gte the best out of the group, as he has with Luton and Charlton before. But doubts will arise from spells at Stoke and Southampton, which may be way he isn’t top of the market at fast withdrawal betting sites but is in the conversation.
