The bookies think that Tottenham Hotspur are now genuine top-four challengers after claiming four wins and a draw from their first five matches. Ange Postecoglou has made a flying start since taking charge of Spurs, and they have been the big market movers in the top-four betting since the beginning of the season.

Brighton have also recorded four Premier League wins in five matches, with the Seagulls' 3-1 win at Old Trafford outlining their credentials as far as qualifying for the Champions League is concerned. However, the bookies are less convinced that Manchester United can once again finish in the top four.

The Red Devils have just six points on the board after their first five matches, and they have drifted on the top-four market, with Chelsea available at a similar price after a goalless draw at Bournemouth. Newcastle United got their campaign back on track after a 1-0 win over Brentford, and Eddie Howe's team are being respected in the market.

Manchester City and Arsenal have been trading at short odds on the market since the beginning of the season, although Liverpool's top-four price has also hardened after a strong start to the season where they have banked 13 points.

Manchester United Drift on Top-Four Market

Manchester United are as big as 11/4 with some betting sites to finish in the Premier League top four at the end of the season, with the Red Devils having suffered defeats to Tottenham, Arsenal and Brighton already this season.

While the above trio are all difficult opponents, it's not as though home wins over Wolves and Nottingham Forest have been convincing. Erik Ten Hag admits that there's work to be done to improve the situation, with the Dutchman's decision to hook Rasmus Hojland during Saturday's game being met with derision, although we should note that the Red Devils had a similarly poor start last term including defeats to Brighton and Brentford

After a Champions League clash away to Bayern Munich, there's a chance to get back to winning ways with a trip to Turf Moor before a home clash against Crystal Palace. Ten Hag will hope that the team have plenty of additional points on the board before they contest the first Manchester derby on 29 October.

Tottenham Looking Like Top Four Contenders

Tottenham Hotspur fans were bracing themselves for a transitional season, with Ange Postecoglou taking the reins and immediately seeing Harry Kane leave for Bayern Munich and leaving a big hole as a result.

However, the Australian has managed to engineer some positive early results. A 2-2 draw at Brentford was followed by a 2-0 win over Manchester United, while Tottenham were able to enjoy the same winning scoreline at Bournemouth. Spurs were then able to blow away Burnley 5-2, while they produced a dramatic finish against Sheffield United to secure a fourth consecutive victory.

Spurs are no longer considered outsiders on the top-four betting market, and their odds to secure fourth spot or higher have shortened significantly. Perhaps the fact that they don't have any European football next season means there can be more focus on domestic matters, while James Maddison has shown he can make a big difference.

Heung-Min Son had a poor campaign last season, but the South Korean was able to score a hat-trick at Turf Moor, and the fact that this team have already scored 13 goals this term suggests that Kane's departure is not costing them from a firepower point-of-view. They have now leapfrogged Newcastle, Manchester United and Chelsea in the betting.

Bookies Don't Think Chelsea Are Top-Four Material

Nobody could have forecasted that Chelsea would finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table last season, but it was a car crash of a season for the biggest spenders in the Premier League.

The recruitment of Mauricio Pochettino might prove to be an astute one, although it could take time for the former Spurs boss to be successful at Stamford Bridge. After taking just one point from the first two matches of the 2023/24 season, the Blues came to life against Luton Town when landing a 3-0 victory, but they were brought down to earth with a bump when losing 1-0 at home to Nottingham Forest. A goalless draw at Bournemouth after the international break doesn't suggest that Chelsea are going to finish in the top four this term.

Chelsea's aim will be to qualify for next season's Champions League, and the big advantage is the fact that they are not competing in Europe this term. With Pochettino having had a break from football management, he might now draw on his experiences with Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain in order to steer the Blues in an upwards direction, with Levi Colwill and Axel Disasi part of this new-look team. However, it will take time to bed down so many new signings, with a lack of cutting edge being shown after drawing blanks in consecutive matches.

Newcastle Unlikely to Repeat Top-Four Position According to Odds

Newcastle United supporters enjoyed an amazing 2022/23 season under Eddie Howe, reaching the EFL Cup final and landing fourth spot in the Premier League. The early signs looked promising this season, with a 5-1 victory over Aston Villa having the Toon Army bouncing, but this was followed by three consecutive defeats. A much-needed 1-0 victory over Brentford was recorded after the international break to steady the ship.

The irony is that the Magpies being in the Champions League this season might affect their hopes of qualifying for next season's competition. They kick off with a clash against Milan, although the presence of PSG and Borussia Dortmund in their group means that there will be a series of tough fixtures throughout the campaign.

The bookies certainly respect Newcastle's top-four chances but the latest odds imply that they are more likely to qualify for the Europa League next term. There are domestic clashes against Sheffield United and Burnley coming up which are winnable, although they could simply be one of several teams shooting for fourth position.

Are Liverpool Bankers For a Champions League Return?

Liverpool had been Champions League regulars since Jurgen Klopp took charge at Anfield, but the Merseyside outfit will be playing in the Europa League this season after finishing in fifth place last time out.

While the Reds were in outstanding form towards the end of the 2022/23 campaign, they ultimately left things too late in their bid to leapfrog Newcastle United and Manchester United. Sports betting apps anticipate that Jurgen Klopp's side can return to the European top table within the next 10 months, with Liverpool odds-on to secure fourth place or higher next season after a promising start to the season.

A 1-1 draw at Chelsea has been followed by four consecutive wins over Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Wolves. Three of these victories have seen Liverpool come from behind to snatch victory, with Mohamed Salah in strong form for a side who appear to have found a gem in the form of Dominik Szoboszlai.

Manchester City Massive Odds-On to Land Top-Four Spot

Manchester City are surely a certainty to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, and some would argue that applies to the top one. After all, this is a team who have won the title in five of the previous six seasons, with Pep Guardiola's side having enjoyed four straight wins.

City's summer spending might be modest, but why mend a bike that isn't broken? Mateo Kovacic has arrived from Chelsea in what is essentially a like-for-like replacement for Ilkay Gundogan, while last year's treble winners have spent big to recruit Josko Gvardiol who can strengthen what is already a stubborn defence.

City's top-four status seems virtually certain now that they have Erling Haaland banging in the goals, and it's more a case of whether anyone can stop them continuing their dominance at the top of the table, with the north-west giants having previously shown the ability to compete on a domestic and continental front.

Can Arsenal Repeat Last Season's Title Charge?

Arsenal are back in the Champions League, and they'll be determined to stay there. The Gunners were one of the surprise packages last season when finishing second in the Premier League table, and they will be aiming to go one better when the 2023/24 campaign comes around.

A win in the Community Shield match against Manchester City served as a welcome confidence booster, and they began the season with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest. They followed that up with a 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace before a 2-2 draw against Fulham and then an exciting 3-1 triumph against Manchester United. Arsenal were then able to grind out a 1-0 victory at Goodison Park after the international break.

Mikel Arteta will be fully aware that Arsenal might be in for a tougher challenge this season considering improvement is expected from Chelsea and Liverpool, but funds have been used to further strengthen a team who made a flying start to the previous campaign, and they were actually trading as title favourites for part of the season. Declan Rice and Kai Havertz are bringing extra quality to this vibrant team, with the former arriving for £105 million last summer.

Bookies Think Brighton Could Break Into Top Four

Brighton & Hove Albion secured a top-six finish in the Premier League last term which earned them the right to play in the Europa League. The Seagulls were able to surpass the 60-point mark and they will now look to fare even better to challenge for a top-four spot.

The early signs look really promising, with Brighton having twelve points on the board after a deserved 3-1 win at Old Trafford. Roberto de Zerbi saw a team featuring Adam Lallana and Danny Welbeck outplay the Red Devils, with Albion sitting pretty on twelve points and the fact that they've beaten Newcastle and Manchester United in the past two games is massively encouraging.

The team are averaging three goals per match right now and they're being shared around, with Evan Ferguson pilfering a hat-trick against the Magpies although it was Welbeck, Pascal Gross and Joao Pedro who were able to provide the scoring touch at Old Trafford. There's little doubt that Roberto de Zerbi can steer this team into the Champions League.
