If you’re looking for an alternative Premier League betting market, the Premier League top-six market provides punters with the chance to bet on any team to finish higher than seventh in the final overall standings. The beauty of this market is that six teams will be settled as a winner, and it’s also an opportunity to bet on a club who might not realistically be able to secure a top-four place in the top flight but are in with a stronger chance when it comes to landing a spot in the Europa League.

Most of the Premier League's top six is all but settled, with Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Spurs all locked in as the top five, though their exact order is very much up in the air. As a result, most betting apps don't have odds available on these teams but will be offering odds on anyone else who's in with a shot of claiming sixth spot.

Here are the latest Premier League top-six odds, from some of the best sports betting sites sites:

Newcastle Even Money for Sixth

Newcastle looked firmly in the driving seat for sixth in the Premier League for much of the season, after yet another collapse from Manchester United. The Magpies no longer have a couple of points in hand over Chelsea, but their remaining fixtures against Man Utd and Brentford shouldn't hold much fear. They're even money to claim sixth place in the league with betting sites, and with good reason.

Crystal Palace Collapse Ends Man Utd's Hopes?

The season has not gone particularly well for Manchester United, who are now trading at odds against with most betting sites to finish in the top six, with Erik ten Hag's side most recently being hammered 4-0 by Crystal Palace, and beaten 1-0 at home by Arsenal.

Elimination from the Champions League hasn't been as beneficial for their league form as many fans and punters hoped, with the Red Devils struggling consistently throughout the season. With just one game to go, they no longer have their destiny in their own hands. However, with a match to come against their main rivals for sixth in Newcastle, they don't have an easy task.

Chelsea's Form Has Them In Contention For Top 6

The league table, and indeed the odds on UK betting apps, suggest that the race for top six is pretty much between Newcastle and Chelsea. Chelsea have put together a string of results that has them right behind Newcastle, and they're now odds on in the betting to finish sixth after beating Nottingham Forest.

Consider Cash Out on the Premier League Top-Six Betting

While six teams will be settled as winners on the Premier League top-six betting market, it doesn’t mean that you can’t make a profit in a different way. For example, if you backed Aston Villa at the start of the season at a decent price, cashing out now when they look a certainty mightn't be the best approach. Cash out is available at most of the best sports betting sites, so this option should be available.

This is known as a back-to-lay strategy, and the alternative is that you can include a Premier League top-six selection as part of a season-long multiple bet. This is something that is done with the shorter-priced picks that are combined with other favorites in different betting markets in order to land a bigger price.

History of the Premier League Big Six

Manchester City and Arsenal were a long way clear of the pack last season, with Manchester United and Newcastle also claiming Champions League spots. Liverpool and Brighton were the other teams to make up the top six.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United were the top six the previous season, but Leicester and West Ham were able to finish above Spurs and the Gunners 12 months previously.

Leicester also landed fifth spot in 2020-21 during a season where Arsenal finished in a lowly eighth, although the 2018-19 season saw the original Big Six dominate the landscape, and the same applies to the 2017-18 and 2016-17 campaigns.
