Tip 1 - 12.22 Southwell - Pottersjetamay
Pottersjetamay returned to action with a solid second at Fakenham a couple of weeks ago, losing to the odds-on favourite. He drops back down to his usual Class 5 today. Although he is still a maiden, he typically goes well at Southwell with a second here in May and last December. They were both over hurdles, but his chase form has been encouraging so far, and today might finally be the day he breaks his duck.

Tip 2 - 12:57 Southwell - Paper Mill
Paper Mill could be on a fair opening mark considering he is now running for a new yard after previously being trained to race mostly in point to points by his owner. He didn’t disgrace himself running off 111 at Cheltenham in May, so he could have a bit more to offer here off 4lb fewer for his new stable.

Tip 3 - 1:45 Cheltenham - Eldorado Allen
A veterans’ chase where most of the main contenders are having their first run of the season looks like a tricky puzzle to solve, but the answer may lie in Eldorado Allen. His form on season debut throughout his career reads 111232, and his yard is in flying form, with 22 of 33 runners either winning or hitting the frame in the last two weeks. He kicked off last season with a pair of placed efforts off half a stone higher, and he looks best caught fresh.
Tip 4 - 2:20 Cheltenham - One Big Bang
It could be asking a lot of James Owen’s seven-year-old on chase debut, but with the expected tough conditions for runners sapping stamina, we side with a stayer in One Big Bang. Has hurdle victories on soft and heavy ground from just under and just over three miles. Gave a good account at only trip to Cheltenham previously when fifth in the Pertemps last year. Trainer has two winners and three places from last nine to post.

What Are the Average Advised Odds of Our Tips?
We tip a minimum of 3 horses per day across the UK and Irish racing and the average starting price of our selections is a remarkable 4/1 over hundreds and hundreds of tips this year.
What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
