Mwaki from stall 2 can have a greater run into the contest than Guernsey Angel from the widest of all in stall 8. Canyouhearthedrums beat Mwaki in the summer but is returning from a break and making a debut on the all-weather, so we think all is in favour of George Wood’s two-year-old here.

Tip 3 - 1:25 Hereford - Danny’s Friend

Tip 4 - 2:15 Tramore - Doyen Wolf

Doyen Wolf has clearly had his problems, being a nine-year-old who’s only seen a racecourse four times. He was placed in a point-to-point back in 2022 before three fairly poor runs over hurdles. A decent run at Sligo last month, where he was fifth on handicap debut, should have him spot on for his chase debut. With more scope for improvement than his rivals, he looks like the one to side with.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
