Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 2:17 Musselburgh - Blue Pete

For all that this is a four-runner race, it looks to lie between the top two. Vegasmile is sure to be popular on the back of a bloodless success over course and distance, but at the prices, Blue Pete is the selection. He meets Vegasmile on the same terms as he would in a handicap and looks set to improve for this step up in trip. He’s got better with each run to date and should be closer to the favourite in the betting.

Tip 2 - 2:54 Yarmouth - Yokohama

Considering the conditions Yokohama ran well off a short break last time out. Heavy ground won’t have suited him with that pushing the race more towards an out and out stamina test. That does mean he gets in here off an unchanged mark and that gives him a real chance if the race is run to suit. Marco Ghiani gets the leg up today in a change from being ridden by a claimer last time out.

Tip 3 - 4:07 Worcester - Authoceltic

It’s been over six months since Authoceltic took to the course but he’s fared well over this distance in the past, winning at Wincanton last autumn and recording a narrow second in a Class 3 at Ascot in his last outing back in March. He was also second over course and distance a couple of years ago. Being well-rested is a theme of this field, with only one of the six runners having raced in the last 150 days, so that time off shouldn’t be an issue.

Tip 4 - 4:30 Roscommon - Lauderdale King

After a string of solid efforts in handicaps without getting his head in front, Lauderdale King has improved immeasurably for more prominent riding. Back to back wins have seen his rating shoot up by 12 pounds, but there could be more to come. Those wins came in 15 and 18-runner races, so today’s race should hold no fears. Dropping in distance, he may be able to put his rivals to the sword from the front.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
