Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 1:50 Yarmouth - Cloak Of Power

Jump into the unknown in this maiden, with three of them making their debut. The one at the top of the market at the time of writing holds the most intrigue in Cloak Of Power. Filly out of Frankel and Listed winner Cloak Of Spirits, she has the pedigree to go very well on debut. What is of most interest is her entry into the 1,000 Guineas next year. If she’s well thought of enough for that and can show something here, this Class 3 could be easy pickings.

Tip 2 - 2:53 Yarmouth - Golden Muse

There’s two big favourites in this race, but it may behove us to go down the card a little bit to Golden Muse, who has won three times on all-weather this year and looks set to finally transfer that to turf. Two of those victories came over 1m4f, and both her turf efforts were at higher grades than today, so dropping down to Class 4 today might be the perfect fit.

Tip 3 - 3:07 Hexham - Codgers Rock

Codgers Rock ran well on his first go over an intermediate trip in a while considering he had no chance with a winner that went well clear a few from home. Last time out he was back to the minimum trip and didn’t have the pace to go with them. However, now back up in distance, he should have a lot more to offer over the 2m4f that suits him best. With a tongue tie and Sean Bowen reached for, this could be his best chance of getting off the mark over hurdles.

Tip 4 - 3:35 Curragh - Sirius

Sirius has run two crackers in her last three runs, having won this race comfortably last year and finishing second in the Irish Cesarewitch last time out. She finds herself just two pounds higher than for last season’s success in this race and represents the all-conquering Willie Mullins stable. The yard also runs Absurde, who’s well in at the weights, but Sirius arrives in form and with course-and-distance credentials to her name.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
