Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 1:52 Carlisle - Winds Of Winter

Winds Of Winter is enjoying a solid 2026 despite not yet winning, having only lost by a head at Cartmel in July over this distance and finished a narrow third at Hexham a month prior. All of her last five attempts this year have been in Class 3, so stepping down a grade today should help, as does the fact her rating effectively drops 7lbs from last time out due to Leah Noreci claiming five.

Tip 2 - 2:20 Newmarket - Silent City

Top weight Silent City looks to hold solid claims here. She was first and second in a pair of course-and-distance handicaps last year off just a couple of pounds lower than today’s mark. A largely consistent sort, she’s won twice and placed four times from eight career starts on turf. She may have needed her September all-weather spin to blow off the cobwebs after a couple of months off. This is her time of year, and she clearly likes Newmarket. She should go close for a yard that’s been among the winners recently.

Tip 3 - 2.27 Carlisle - Dare To Shout

Has only won five times in rules races in his career, but conditions look right for another success today. This is the nine-year-old’s first race since May, and his record of going straight after a break of 79 days or longer in his career is 12121. Last win came in this race last year, which means his rating is now down to a lowly 122. All four career wins in handicaps have come from marks of 124 and above including the nine pounds higher it was for last year’s success here.

Tip 4 - 4:12 Carlisle - Golden Ace

Golden Ace probably doesn’t get the respect she deserves because of how a Champion Hurdle fell into her lap, but a quick look through her form shows she nearly always runs her race, and it’s usually to a very decent standard. With the weights as they are, the main danger is Wilful, but he’s going to need to take another step forward to beat her today. It’s tough not to take the multiple Grade 1 winner appearing in a listed race.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
