Tip 1 - 1:47 Redcar - Hope Of Acklam

Hope Of Acklam is progressing nicely ahead of his handicap debut today, placing in his last two starts after a forgettable debut over 6f. Now up to 1m, it appears as if this two-year-old has plenty in the tank, and this could be the right distance for him, especially in a Class 6 considering his only other career runs have come at higher grades.

Tip 2 - 2:40 Goodwood - Darkness

This could be an opportune time to be backing Darkness again, even if the suspicion is that a furlong fewer would be optimal. The veteran has been successful over a mile before in a Listed affair as a two-year-old and at Newmarket from a mark of 91. Today’s mark of 85 looks ripe for the picking, having not won since August last year here over seven furlongs. Last five wins have been from marks of 88, 87, 89, 84 and 91. To boot, trainer David O’Meara has won this race the last three years.

Tip 3 - 2:47 Perth - Letterston Lily

Letterston Lily is a horse on the up, winning back-to-back contests over 2m4f since joining the Bowens. The only blot in the form book was two starts ago, but that run can be thrown out as she was taken off her feet running over two miles. Back over her preferred trip today, she can make it back-to-back wins and take a 5lb rise in her stride as there it looks like there is more to come from this mare.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
