Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose. Check out their best bets for today below.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 12:56 Newcastle - Champagne Powder

Based on what they’ve shown to date, Wilde’s Legacy and My Mate AJ could well be a few notches better than the rest. At the prices, and considering each of those two are making their hurdles debut after more than half a year off the track, it could be worth taking a punt on Champagne Powder. Once rated in the 80s on the flat, he’s no forlorn hope. Leah Noreci takes a handy seven pounds off, and his recent fifth at Perth wasn’t a terrible effort. With fitness and jumping experience in his favour, he could be set up to pick up the pieces if the favourites fail to deliver.

Tip 2 - 1:26 Newcastle - Luminaries

Returning to fences after a pair of wins over hurdles, Luminaries returns to a course he scored a treble at last year bang in form. The nine-year-old had gone through a rough patch prior to his win at the start of October, having failed to really do much until a second in September led to those two wins. He similarly didn’t impress much in chases last year, but his mark now is considerably lower and that could be the difference.

Tip 3 - 1:40 Catterick - Battenburg Belle

The ultra-consistent Battenburg Belle is back for another go at Catterick attempting to win her fourth race over course and distance this year. She didn’t manage to get involved at the finish last time out, but that was over five furlongs which is too short for her. Back over her preferred six today, she should be right in the mix again for Rebecca Menzies.

Tip 4 - 2:31 Newcastle - Kent De Thai

Sam England’s Kent De Thaix looked a progressive sort over hurdles last season and could be nicely handicapped at a mark of 122 for a debut over hurdles. Was twice a winner when Pointing last year and has form on all ground. Does have questions to answer when going fresh but seems a good enough gamble against the short-priced favourite in the race, who is also going fresh and debuting over the bigger obstacles but without the point-to-point form.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
