Our Horse Racing Tips Staking Plan

Each selection we advised is a bet of £10 win single per horse. This is unless it is otherwise stated that is should be a £5 each way bet.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success, and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose. Check out their best bets for today below.

Horse Racing Betting Tips

Tip 1 - 12:20 Chepstow - Annie Express

Shaped up reasonably well on seasonal reappearance last month to finish third. Was dropped a pound to 105 and should come on for the run. Won twice over fences last term ranging from 2m4f to 3m, so today’s conditions should suit nicely. Regular rider Toby McCain-Mitchell is aboard, which is always handy in a conditional jockeys’ race. If appropriate improvement is found on second race of the season, this lightly raced eight-year-old should be right up there.

Tip 2 - 1:20 Nottingham - Pole Star

With his massive weight somewhat offset by Toby Moore claiming seven pounds, Pole Star makes plenty of appeal here. He takes a huge drop in grade having won a Chester Class 2 and finishing nearer first than last in the Cesarewitch on his last two starts. He arrives in form, with ground conditions in his favour, and lands in a race where half the runners need to prove they stay. He looks like a rock solid option.

Tip 3 - 2:30 Chepstow - Inside Man

Inside Man didn’t get up to much on chase debut in September, finishing fourth of four, but he’s had a good career over hurdles with three wins at this distance including one here at Chepstow. His rating got away from him at the tail end of last year, rising to 124 after the second of consecutive wins, and it’s now back down to 117 which looks far more manageable. This will still be a test, despite the small field, but one he can pass.

Tip 4 - 3:30 Kempton - Cloak Of Power

Big things are expected of this well bred Frankel filly who looked like she needed the run to find her legs on racecourse debut. She missed the break then was unable to get close enough to put in a real challenge. Second time out we should see a lot more of her today, and you would imagine she is the horse with the highest ceiling in the field.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

Where Can I Watch the Daily Horse Racing Selections Run?

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch. We've also got a page specifically dedicated to Cheltenham Festival live streaming.
