Tip 1 - 3:00 Sedgefield - Uncle Al

Jeteye looks a worthy favourite in this company, but Uncle All should be there or thereabouts from this mark. Two career wins - one of which was at this course - from marks of 81 and 83, so today’s 82 is well within reach. Has not shaped brilliantly at this longer trip in the past but a chance is taken that the seven-year-old can put it together here. An easier paced gallop on good ground compared to good to firm on last run should mean a better performance for Uncle Al.

Tip 2 - 3:12 Windsor - Crown Of Crowns

There are a couple in this who have ran to a decent level of form, including Queen of Scotland who did so first time up, but there isn’t anything in the race which has done something outstanding. However, there is a newcomer in this who looks very interesting on paper. Crown of Crowns is a Frankel filly who is closely related to a number of group winners, including Waldgeist who won the Arc on soft ground, so she shouldn’t even be inconvenienced by the cut in the ground either.

Tip 3 - 3:42 Windsor - Cape Toronada

On a hat trick after winning three of her last four, Cape Toronada appears to have found the right ingredients in the last few months after an initial run of little note last year. Her rating take a 4lb hit after those victories and a step up in grade probably isn’t ideal, but she keeps improving and looks in good stead to complete the treble today.

Tip 4 - 3:51 Thirsk - Macedonian

An eight-placed finish last time out for Macedonian doesn’t look great at first glance, but it can be marked up a little. The field split into three distinct groups and he found himself on the worst part of the track. He was second in his group and would have done much better in the context of the race if in a better spot. That run followed a runner-up effort at Ayr, suggesting that he’s appreciated the recent drop in trip. He stays at six furlongs today and now runs in a selling handicap with a major chance.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
