Plenty here who have decent form, but not much of it can touch Starlust’s. Inconsistent but when at best, he has the beating of these rivals. Ran well last two outings to finish second and fourth, respectively, from two Group 1 affairs, so the drop down to a Group 3 should suit nicely. Previous Group 3 and Listed winning form, with the latter coming from a pound higher than Saturday’s mark of 112.

Tip 2 - 1:50 Newmarket - Prosperity

Prosperity comes into her first handicap off the back of two wins from two, a perfect start to her career. The question now is whether her rating of 81 is appropriate or not but both her wins came at this grade and that mark puts her right in the middle of the pack. She has less experience than the others in this race but her record is too good to ignore and she has every chance of completing the hat trick.

Tip 3 - 2:30 Ayr - Toyotomi

Despite being two pounds above his last winning mark, Toyotomi has shaped as though he may have a race like this in him. He was desperately unlucky last week at the Curragh, finishing mid-division having been denied a run at the business end of the race. Six furlongs with give underfoot look to be his optimum conditions, and he looks to be drawn in the right place, coming from the same side as Friday’s Bronze Cup winner over course and distance.

Tip 4 - 3:40 Ayr - Dance In The Storm

Again we will go with the low numbers advantage from the Bronze Cup. Dance In The Storm ran well to be fourth in his first go over six furlongs last time out so should have a lot more to give over the trip. With the current soft ground his ability to run over further could be an advantage with an end-to-end gallop assured with such a big field. Oisin Murphy has a habit of getting his rides cover and pouncing late in these big handicaps, and we could see another masterclass here.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
