Saturday's racing is highlighted by the St Leger, marking the final English classic of the season at Doncaster. Not to be outdone, there are no fewer than six Group and Listed affairs at Leopardstown. While there is also action taking place at Chester, Lingfield, Bath and Musselburgh. Tip 1 - 2:08 Beverley - Bearwith

Bearwith is yet to win on turf this year, with his two victories coming on all-weather, but he looks in good stead to change that record today. He finished second over course and distance last month and has been a previous winner here, plus his overall grass form of 24492 since April has been solid. He goes down 1lb from that second place, thanks to a poor run on all-weather, and Tom Kiely-Marshall taking off another 5lb might just be the ticket.

Tip 2 - 2:43 Beverley - Prince Kameo

It’s a tale as old as time - a Prescott horse with three disappointing runs, gets a handicap mark, steps up in trip, shows huge improvement and rattles off a sequence of wins. That’s where we are with Prince Kameo. He stepped up to a mile off a mark of 64 before winning at Lingfield and following up at Thirsk. Now rated 74, he may not have reached his ceiling yet. There are some potential improvers in opposition today, but this gelding could have a couple more wins in him.

Tip 3 - 3:41 Yarmouth - Sky Safari

With question marks over the big drop in trip for favourite Fairy Glen, we think there could be some value elsewhere. While the raw turf numbers don’t look great for Sky Safari, with one win from five, that one win came at this course on debut. Has more than proved herself on the all-weather with a Listed and Group 3 win under her belt in the last 10 months. If she can convert that form over on the turf, she will far outrun her odds against this opposition.

Tip 4 - 4:25 Kelso - Scots Poet

Compared to most of the rest in this race Scots Poet has a decent strike rate under rules. He’s already won three times this year, including once at Kelso, so he’s not gone off the boil by any means. His last run can be thrown out as that was on good to firm, and firm has never been in the going description for any of his wins. Three runs ago he was unlucky to be unseated on the flat, and that is the only other blip in his last 10 outings as he hasn’t finished out of the top three in his other eight runs this year.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
