Wilfried Gnonto has been attracting headlines this summer, with the 19-year-old handing in a transfer request at Leeds United and then refusing to play for the Championship club at the start of the season. It appears as though the forward has now apologised to manager Daniel Farke and scored on his return at the weekend, although it will be interesting to see whether his desire to leave Elland Road comes to fruition this summer, with football betting sites still thinking a move may happen.

As things stand, the Italian is still a Leeds player and recently returned to training, although there are several Premier League clubs reportedly interested in signing him. These include Everton, who are trading as one of the favourites with most betting sites, while Tottenham have also shown an interest.

Gnonto has made 11 appearances of the Italian nation side and it’s not out of the question that he returns to his native Italy, according to the latest transfer betting odds. There might also be Spanish clubs who are willing to bid for his services after he earned rave reviews for some of his performances in a Leeds United shirt last season.

Can Everton Boost Attacking Options and Land Gnonto?

Wilfried Gnonto is clearly an exciting attacking talent, and the 19-year-old has attracted interest from Everton. It’s hardly a surprise that the Toffees would want to sign someone who has already made 11 appearances for the Italian senior team, with the Leeds player having shone brightly in the Premier League last term.

Everton are already demonstrating that they are short of goals and recently captured Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds, so it’s plausible that they can open the same line of communication to secure the services of Gnonto. However, they might have to stump up a large transfer fee to interest the Championship outfit.

Everton have already reportedly had two transfer bids turned down. It appears they have no desire to sell and want the player to aid them in their quest of a quick return to the Premier League. However, there is still time left for their hand to be forced.

Could a Return to Italy Be On Cards for Gnonto?

Wilfried Gnonto was born in Verbania, with the winger’s youth career involving spells with Bavena, Suno and then Inter Milan. Therefore, it’s not completely out of the question that the teenager could return to his native Italy this summer.

Gnonto came through the youth ranks at Inter between 2012 and 2020, with the forward then joining Zurich before making the move to Leeds two years later. If no English Premier League clubs make a suitable bid for him, it might be that a Serie A outfit are able to bring him home with the right offer.

Perhaps Internazionale could be able to bring Gnonto back, and there’s little doubt that they will regret allowing him to leave in the first place. Juventus, Milan and Roma are other possible options for a player, who could still leave Leeds this summer.

Tottenham Could Be in the Running to Sign Leeds Starlet

We all know that Tottenham are likely to conduct some transfer business before the window shuts, and perhaps they will make a play for Wilfried Gnonto. This young and exciting talent would certainly fit the bill in terms of what Ange Postecoglou is looking to achieve with Spurs, and there are funds available.

With chairman Daniel Levy having squeezed every drop out of Bayern Munich as part of the sale of Harry Kane, the north London outfit are now cash rich, and they could go in hot pursuit of a player with enormous potential based on his fledgling career to date.

Gnonto would surely jump at the chance to sign for Tottenham, with the club possessing ambitions to challenge for a Premier League top-four spot this season. Somewhere further down the line, Postecoglou will want to compete for major honours, and Gnonto could end up being one of the building blocks.
