Although the Yankees, Mets or Phillies in the World Series would have put up big numbers for New Jersey and Pennsylvania sportsbooks, the Los Angeles Dodgers are seeing a lot of action heading into Tuesday night's Game 1.

“We have the Dodgers opening as a -200 moneyline favorite to win the World Series. Right now, we do have liability on the Dodgers to win it,” said Tom Gable, director of race and sportsbook at The Borgata in Atlantic City. “While it certainly would have been favorable from a handle perspective to have the Yankees as the American League representative, the Dodgers are enough of a draw and a public team that they will help the interest from a betting perspective.

"The NLCS was very heavily bet here. The Rays had been a favorite with sharp players before the season began to win the AL East and the American League pennant, but we didn’t see too much action carry over to them winning the World Series.”

PointsBet is also seeing favorable odds for the Dodgers.

“Even though most of the local favorites like Phils, Mets, and Yanks have been eliminated from World Series contention, we still expect to see a ton of action on the World Series. Besides the Yankees, the Dodgers are our most bet team in our World Series winner market,” said Michael Korn, sports analyst for PointsBet USA. “As far as our series price goes and as expected, we are seeing more money come in on the Dodgers early at -200 (Rays currently +160) (67% of the bet count and 71% of the handle on LAD).

”Given that the Dodgers are still a big market team from L.A., we don’t expect this World Series to be underwhelming in terms of overall action. With basketball now over and football mostly being played on the weekend we expect the World Series to drive most our turnover during the week. The book will be rooting for the Rays to win the series.”

The Dodgers (-200 ML) are also the odds-on favorite (Rays, +160) over at BetRivers and SugarHouse. The Dodgers were listed as the odds-on favorites before the season began (+375) and enters Game 1 on both sites receiving 75% of total bets to win in the World Series as of Monday afternoon. The Rays were also among the top five teams in terms of championship handle from the start of the season until now.

Early money is backing the Rays moneyline with 70% of the ML handle in Game 1, but 64% of the spread handle is on the Dodgers -1. Over eight runs (-112) is currently backed by 54% of the O/U handle, while under 8 is -107.

Both Rush Street Interactive sites also have Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts (+800) as the favorite to win Most Valuable Player honors with 41% of total bets. Dodger teammate first baseman Cody Bellinger is second with 15%. Tampa Bay sensation outfielder Randy Arozarena is the top Rays player in terms of total MVP bets.

Record Handle & Hold at BetMGM

Over at BetMGM, the Dodgers (-193) have accounted for the second-most tickets, largest handle (percentage-wise) and second biggest liability to win the World Series. The Dodgers were +140 to win the NLCS before the postseason began.

“It was a great weekend for BetMGM as we saw record handle and hold. That said, the Dodgers advancing to the World Series keeps our exposure high as Los Angeles is a big liability for us,” said Jason Scott, vice president of trading for BetMGM.

The Rays, currently at +160 to win the World Seres, were +420 to win the ALCS prior to the start of the postseason at BetMGM.

Game 1 is scheduled for Tuesday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, with first pitch at 8:09 p.m. ET on FOX. Game 2 is at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday.
