Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Odds, Picks & Predictions

It’s been three weeks since Bryson DeChambeau blitzed the U.S. Open field for his first major victory. He and most of the big names have been out of action ever since, so it’s been a slow few weeks for golf betting.

DeChambeau and several other prominent players are back to it this week at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they’ll begin to rev up for the rescheduled 2020 Masters Nov. 12-15 at Augusta National Golf Club.

DeChambeau won this tournament in 2018 and enters as the heavy favorite at +750 in the latest Shriners betting odds. Webb Simpson is next at +1000, while 2017 winner Patrick Cantlay and reigning PGA champion Collin Morikawa are tied for third at +2000.

Rickie Fowler is further down the board at +3500 while last week’s Sanderson Farms Championship winner, Sergio Garcia, is listed at +4000.

Patrick Cantlay (+100) over Webb Simpson

No way we’re fading Cantlay this week. He won this tournament during his first appearance in 2017 and finished runner-up in 2018 and 2019. No worse than second in three starts. Obviously, that’s not a secret and Cantlay has been a little off lately. But he finished T-12 at the BMW Championship six weeks ago and three straight results like that at TPC Summerlin isn’t a coincidence. Simpson has been on top of his game lately and loves this course as well, with four top-10s in nine starts. But we're not gonna miss a chance to grab Cantlay at even-money odds given his lights-out reputation in Vegas. Grab this bet with PointsBet.

Tournament Ends in a Playoff (+350)

The winning score here always seems to hover around 20-under-par, with a lot of contenders in the mix come Sunday. It’s gone to a playoff in two of the past three years, with Kevin Na beating Cantlay in extra holes last year and Cantlay winning a three-man playoff in 2017. DeChambeau beat Cantlay by one stroke in 2018. We’ve seen nothing but tight finishes lately and the price is right here at +350. Grab this bet with BetMGM.

Hideki Matsuyama (-110) over Collin Morikawa

Matsuyama only has two prior starts here, both of them promising. He was T-16 in 2020 and T-10 in 2015. This course doesn’t test the putting nearly as much as recent tracks we’ve seen, and that’s been the one club holding him back lately. He clearly likes this course and remains one of the best in the world tee-to-green, despite his excruciating putting struggles. Morikawa finished T-42 here last year and missed the cut at the U.S. Open. We like Matsuyama this week. Find the best odds at FanDuel.

Brian Harman (-112) over Charley Hoffman

The shorter hitters like Harman can still get it around TPC Summerlin without much of a problem. Harman has made four consecutive cuts in this tournament and finished top-20 in his two most recent Shriners starts. He’s also been inside the top-40 in his last five starts overall. Hoffman was T-74 a year ago and has missed three of the last five Shriners cuts. We don’t like the inconsistency and have our money on Harman. Bet on it with DraftKings.

Luke List (-114) over Stewart Cink

Cink is on a tear to start the new season, finishing T-12 last week after winning the Safeway Open last month. But we saw little to indicate it was coming, and these sorts of runs can be fleeting at age 47. List missed the Safeway cut but returns to friendly territory – in three Shriners starts he’s finished T-13, T-20 and T-16. We expect a bit of a market correction on Cink this week and a matchup victory for List. Bet on it with DraftKings.
