Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf has had enough of the Seattle Seahawks. The same day the team announced it was releasing fellow wideout Tyler Lockett, Metcalf announced he would be seeking a trade out of town.

In six seasons, Metcalf has never had fewer than 900 yards, and he’s played in at least 15 games in all six. That level of durability and production – and the fact he’s just 27 years of age – immediately make him the top WR on the market.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has revealed his 2025 NFL odds for Metcalf's next team.

Potential Landing Spots

Metcalf has said he wants to play on a contender. Surely, any contender in need of a receiver upgrade this off-season will look at Metcalf as one of the premier potential additions, if not No. 1. But there is a caveat into acquiring Metcalf as is.

He has just one year remaining on his contract, and as of right now the cap hit for Metcalf stands at $31.9 million. That likely eliminates many of the leading teams that Metcalf would be interested in joining, including the Kansas City Chiefs ($400k of cap space as of March 5), Buffalo Bills (-$9.7M) and perhaps the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($9M). Other teams with similar issues are relegated to The Field.

It’s likely the Seahawks would hope that cooler heads prevail, especially after releasing Lockett. Seattle ranked No. 5 in pass yards this season with Geno Smith under center.

It could be argued that there is no perfect fit for Metcalf in terms of need, cap space and contender. The best mix of the three includes the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, and Pittsburgh Steelers

If money is the true motivator, no team can come close to spending what the New England Patriots can afford to spend, and they’re strongly in the market to acquire a top target for second-year QB Drake Maye.

The Field includes teams with a need but perhaps not the cap space to go big at receiver, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens plus divisional rivals such as the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals.
