Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s place in the record books is already secured. Now he’s playing with house money ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl 57 betting matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Arizona. 

Kelce is currently the best tight end in the world. He’s already a lock for the Hall of Fame according to most and he’s still just 33 years old. This will be his third Super Bowl appearance and no one has ever done it better than No. 87 in the postseason. He holds the record for most career playoff receptions for a tight end (127) and most yards (1,465).  

There’s one more record he’d love to knock off Sunday – Kelce is currently tied with former Patriots and Bucs tight end Rob Gronkowski with 15 career postseason touchdown catches. He’d also move into second all-time on that list for any position – Jerry Rice currently stands alone with 22.

It’s not surprising to see Kelce with the shortest anytime touchdown odds of any player in this game at -130 on Kansas sports betting apps. He’s also +650 to score the first touchdown, ahead of Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (+700) and Eagles running back Miles Sanders (+700).

We liked this prop bet to begin with, and BetMGM Sportsbook has by far the best NFL odds we found. Other sportsbooks had it as short as -185 and we’ll take this time to remind you – shop around! This is the widest offering of player and novelty props we’ll see all year and there’s a lot of discrepancy from book to book. This is a great example. 

Kelce has had at least six receptions in six consecutive games, two of which were against division opponents. He’s taken it up a notch in the playoffs with a ridiculous 14 catches against the Jaguars and seven in a win over the Bengals. With Mahomes limited as a rusher and injuries at receiver, we like Kelce to go Over 6.5 receptions.

Kelce is an other-worldly talent who feasts on mismatches. There should certainly be an opportunity there against these Eagles outside linebackers, but the Philadelphia secondary is the best Kelce has seen all season. We still expect him to get a lot of looks – as evidenced by prop No. 1 – but it’s gonna be more dink and dunk than big shots down the field. 

He’s a great safety net for Mahomes right now in situations where the Chiefs quarterback would normally take off running, but the Eagles have been among the best at limiting tight end production all season. Despite a healthy number of targets and receptions, we’re on Kelce Under 79.5 receiving yards.

Longest Reception Under 22.5 Yards

Again, this goes back to the Eagles secondary. They’re so good at limiting explosive plays and keeping things in front of them. Philadelphia has gone 11 straight games without giving up a touchdown to an opposing tight end, allowing just three all season. There’s not a direct correlation to this prop, but the point is you don’t see a lot of big boys streaking in the open field against the Eagles. 

And that hasn’t been his bread and butter lately – Kelce has gone four consecutive games without a reception longer than 16 yards, even in that crazy 14-catch performance against the Jaguars. We like that trend to continue.

Wrapping things up with our third straight Under prop on Kelce, we’re definitely not trying to diminish his value or importance in this matchup. Circumstances have changed in recent weeks with the Mahomes injury, and Kelce is playing a bit of a different role. These are also solid odds, in our opinion, considering the Eagles’ defense gives up the fewest passing yards per attempt in the league. 

Philadelphia’s defense will be hyper-aware of Kelce at all times, especially in the opening minutes, and we think defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon will try to shut him down at all costs and force the Chiefs to beat them elsewhere.
