2024 College Football Week 7 Best Bets To Back Today
Saturday, October 12
Penn State at USC, 3:30 p.m. (CBS)
Buzz: Buzz: Another delicious matchup in the new-and-improved Big Ten. The Nittany Lions visit the LA Coliseum. This game opened with the Lions as 6.5-point favorites in the spring. It has since been cut to 3.5 ahead of Week 6. USC has improved on defense, helping to shrink the number. QB Miller Moss has the Trojans moving the ball. These teams last met in the 2017 Rose Bowl, a thriller won by USC 52-49. The Lions head west after playing host to UCLA in Week 6.
Best Bet: USC +3 (-110) at bet365
Texas vs. Oklahoma (Cotton Bowl), 3:30 p.m. (ABC)
Buzz: The Red River Rivalry (better known as the Red River Shootout) offers up Texas and Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl for the first time as members of the SEC. The Longhorns season hinges on this game and their game next week against Georgia. A sweep there could all but guarantee Texas a spot in the SEC title game. Both teams showcase exciting freshman QBs – Arch Manning and Michael Hawkins. Can the Sooners’ defense slow down the latest iteration of the Manning Dynasty? If not, the Longhorns win this one big. But the Sooners nearly upset Tennessee. This will be a gem.
Best Bet: Oklahoma +14.5 (-110) at bet365
Florida at Tennessee, 7 p.m. (ESPN)
Buzz: Tennessee was staggered by the Razorbacks in Fayetteville on Saturday. That upset came after Alabama lost to Vanderbilt. At least one spot in the SEC title game will go to a one-loss team or worse. So the Vols are right back in it. The Gators had their national title game Saturday. They beat in-state rival UCF. The Vols need to get Nic Iamaleava back in a groove. And Florida struggles against the pass (see Week 1 vs. Miami.) The Vols defense will dominate this one. Remember, Tennessee let Arkansas score in the final minute Sunday to get the ball back. It just didn't work. This number tightened in our favor after Saturday's results.
Best Bet: Tennessee -16.5 (-110) at bet365
Ohio State at Oregon, 7:30 p.m. (NBC)
Buzz: The Ducks and Bucks get a taste of the bigger and better Big Ten as Ohio State visits Eugene. The winner here has an inside track for a spot in the B1G title game – and a possible bye in the expanded college football playoff. The season won’t be over for the loser, but a shot in the B1G title game will be a whole lot tougher to earn moving forward. The Bucks are early 2.5-point favorites. The total is 56.5. The Bucks bring their top-tier defense and hope to avenge their loss to Oregon 3 years ago in Columbus. Nothing Oregon has seen comes close to the defensive threat posed by Ohio State. And defense always travels well.
Best Bet: Under 56.5 Points (-110) at bet365
Ole Miss at LSU, 7:30 p.m. (ABC)
Buzz: Homecoming at LSU means the party has already started. This game marks 100 years of football at Tiger Stadium. Death Valley welcomes back more than 100 former players for the celebration. The place will be amped. LSU needs to run the table for consideration in the SEC title game. Or at least until their game against Alabama in November. Ole Miss rolled through South Carolina, a nice bounce back after their home loss to Kentucky. The Tigers are 3-point favorites at home. The early play here may be the under on 66.5 points.
Best Bet: Under 66.5 Points (-110) at bet365
Iowa State at West Virginia, 8 p.m. (FOX)
Buzz: Iowa State brings a 5-0 record into Morgantown. The Cyclones handed Baylor 43-21 Saturday. The Mountaineers (3-2) upended Oklahoma State at Stillwater. Both teams are 2-0 in the Big 12, so the loser will be all-but out of a possible Big 12 title game and a shot at the College Football Playoff. The Cyclones have allowed just 40 points in 5 games. And can move the ball on the ground (265 yards Saturday) and in the air. West Virginia doesn't want to get behind early here. It might not be able to catch up.
Best Bet: Iowa State -3.5 (-110) at bet365
