New England Patriots NFL Draft Odds: Receiver Or Defense?
After a disastrous 2020 season behind QB Cam Newton, the 2021 season was a nice bounceback for coach Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. Rookie Mac Jones performed admirably at QB and the Pats were back in the playoffs.
The defense ranked top-five in points and yards allowed, and while the offense was sixth in yards, it was only 15th in scoring. Red zone production and getting into the end zone is the next-step ascension for the offense.
Bookies.com oddsmaker Adam Thompson has revealed who the New England Patriots are most likely to choose with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Who Will the New England Patriots Take In NFL Draft?
Jones ranked 12th in passing after being selected No. 15 in the 2021 Draft. What makes it even more impressive is he did it without a go-to target to rely on. This is a solid WR class, especially at the top, but the addition of DeVante Parker negated an absolute need to spend a first-rounder on a WR.
While the defense was great, important pieces are gone, most notably CB J.C. Jackson. Inside linebacker is a big need as well; Utah’s Devin Lloyd is unlikely to drop past the Patriots here, but it’s also likely he goes earlier.

Trent McDuffie’s Odds to Join the New England Patriots
New England is available around +3500 to win Super Bowl 57 on NFL futures markets. For all the issues it may have on defense, cornerback is a top priority. The Pats are set at safety, with Devin McCourty back and Jabrill Peppers signed to a deal. But New England regularly plays nickel and another CB is a big need.
There are three surefire first-round cornerbacks. Two of them, Ahmad Gardner of Cincinnati and Derek Stingley of LSU, are very likely to be gone by No. 21. Washington’s Trent McDuffie, however, could be there. He is considered to be a low grade on the tangible measurements, but didn’t give up a TD in his last two years of college and has been compared by NFL.com scouts to Packers star Jaire Alexander.
