Here’s something even optimistic Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans weren’t expecting to say about 2023. Following Tom Brady’s retirement and his replacement by Baker Mayfield, the Buccaneers’ upped their scoring, upped their record, won the NFC South, and advanced to the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoffs.

Mayfield is back to lead the Bucs again in 2024 as Tampa Bay aims to build off the success of last season.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has used his resources of NFL contacts developed over 20 years covering the league and the NFL Draft to create his hypothetical NFL futures odds on who gets selected 26th by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2024 NFL Draft.

2024 Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Draft Prospects

The Bucs spent most of their salary cap availability this offseason by re-signing Mayfield, as well as top weapon Mike Evans. That is a “W” for the team, which could have been facing a far-bleaker 2024 without them. They also shored up the secondary with Jordan Whitehead.

There is still work to be done. The Bucs allowed the third-most pass yards, and the cornerback situation was highly suspect. They also ranked in the bottom half of the NFL in QB pressures, hurries, and sacks, despite blitzing the third-most in the league.

They also ranked dead last in the NFL in rushing. While the team seems content with Rachaad White, the O-line must get better at creating holes to run through.

At No. 26, the Bucs will be at the mercy of a couple dozen other teams’ wants and needs. But there will be impact players at every position of need when they’re on the clock.

More than most first-round talents, Penn State Edge rusher Chop Robinson has varying opinions on where he should be selected. NFL.com has Robinson as the No. 3 Edge in the entire draft. Other insiders have him outside their Top 5, and perhaps out of the first round.

But if he’s around at 26, the Bucs could take the stab at the boom-or-bust prospect that’s been compared to a raw Micah Parsons. UCLA’s Laiatu Latu is also a raw Edge, but with a bigger frame and First-Team All-American production.

Interior line is a key fix, and Duke’s Graham Barton is the favorite to get chosen, if he’s available. He could go as high as 16 or fall out of the draft, depending on the whims of general managers as the clock ticks. He’s considered an immediate-start center, something Tampa Bay sorely needs.
