Travis Hunter 2025 NFL Draft Odds: Which Team Will Select the Two-Way Star?

Travis Hunter was a stellar two-way player for Colorado. But his position in the NFL, at least as of now, will be at cornerback. 

Hunter won the Heisman Trophy in 2024 by dazzling on both sides of the ball for Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes. Hunter was nearly unstoppable on offense. Teaming up with QB Shedeur Sanders, Hunter finished in the top 6 among CFB bowl-eligible schools in receptions, receiving yards and TD catches. 

But his success in the NFL will come primarily as a cornerback. Hunter has been slotted as a cornerback for the Scouting Combine. That runs from February 27 to March 2.

The NFL Draft takes place in April. The Tennessee Titans own the No. 1 overall pick, followed by the Browns, Giants, and Patriots. There is a strong case to be made that Hunter could find himself in Cleveland, New York, or New England. 

Coming out of high school, Hunter was considered a defensive player. Deion Sanders was able to lure Hunter to Jackson State (and bring him to Colorado) by allowing him to play on both sides. 

Two-way players are rare in the NFL. Hunter could well find himself an occasional role on offense when teams opt for the wildcat, or when it comes to exotic plays when it comes time for a 2-point conversion.

Travis Hunter NFL Draft Odds Breakdown 

The Titans need a franchise QB. Could that be Cam Ward of Miami? Or even Hunter’s former teammate (Shedeur Sanders) in Boulder? There is no clear consensus on any of the top 5 teams in the draft in terms of whom they might choose. 

The Browns have multiple holes to fill, as well. Perhaps the biggest is at the defensive end following Myles Garrett’s demand for a trade. That deal could well occur on or before draft night. Abdul Carter from Penn State is an outstanding edge rusher.

 The Giants and Raiders are also in search of their next franchise/starting QB. It’s unlikely Shedeur Sanders will still be on the board by the time the Jets pick at No. 7. The Jets announced this week that Aaron Rodgers won’t be in Kelly green next season. 

The New England Patriots could take Hunter with the No. 4 position. They offer the best value in this market given the more-glaring needs of the teams ahead of them here. 

The Patriots need help pretty much everywhere except at QB. So Hunter could serve them well as a corner, or in a very limited two-way role.

Speculation that the Patriots would try to rely too much on Hunter as a wide receiver is baseless. The Patriots need an experienced receiver (see Tee Higgins) as their new No. 1 to give 2^nd-year QB Drake Maye a certain primary target. And Head Coach Mike Vrabel, who is running things in Foxboro these days, won’t lessen Hunter’s time and focus on defense during his rookie season.
