The West Coast swing continues this week at one of the best golf betting venues around. Jordan Spieth is the main attraction coming into the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a tournament that’s been hit-or-miss from a field perspective given its current place on the schedule.

From a gambling standpoint, there’s plenty to sink into this week with a 54-hole cut and a three-course rotation ahead of the final round at iconic Pebble Beach. And with fewer big names in the field, there’s an opportunity to clean up on sports betting apps on some of the lesser-known players as we look at the daily fantasy sports prices and picks for the 2023 Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Last Week: Max Homa carded a 6-under 66 in the final round to take a two-shot win in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. That’s six Tour victories now for the 32-year-old Homa, who just secured his second consecutive two-win season having already won the Fortinet Championship last September.

It came at the expense of 54-hole leader Sam Ryder, who hung tough for a while and ultimately fell apart with a 3-over 75. Keegan Bradley matched Homa’s 66 to sneak into a runner-up spot, while Collin Morikawa finished third overall in his second start of 2023.

2023 Pebble Beach Pro-Am DFS Golf Picks

DFS Golf Picks: 11K-9K Range

Viktor Hovland, $10,300: Hovland is the second-highest priced DraftKings DFS pick in the field this week, and we think he’s worth paying up for. His irons are coming around again after a brief slump and he seems to be a dynamite putter on Poa Annua, with two career top-five finishes at Riviera and a solo second at Torrey Pines last season.

He won the Hero World Challenge less than two months ago and he’s been T-30 or better in nine consecutive starts, including eight results of T-21 or better. We know top-ranked Jordan Speith has unbelievable course history here, but we’ll defer to Hovland’s consistency this week.

Tom Hoge, $10,000: It’s a rare sight to see Hoge in the 10K range, even if he is the defending champ. But it’s justified this week. Good vibes aside, he’s playing well to start the calendar year. Hoge is a combined 48-under-par over his last 12 rounds, all of which were even-par or better.

He leads the Tour in Strokes Gained Approach and that category is so much more important at Pebble Beach with its relatively tiny greens. This is also one of those weeks where a lack of distance off the tee doesn’t hurt him. We like Hoge at Pebble.

Keith Mitchell, $9,100: We’ll offer up a lower-end buy here as well with Mitchell. He’s been driving it like an absolute stallion this season, currently 19th in distance and 7th in accuracy. While distance alone isn’t a big advantage given how short the courses are this week, that combo of length and accuracy will leave Mitchell with a ton of wedges and chances to get it close on approach.

The irons were sharp for a T-22 finish at the American Express and Mitchell tends to heat up around this time – last year he went T-12 at Pebble Beach, T-10 at the Waste Management and T-9 at the Honda Championship for a three-week stretch. Let’s see if he can do it again.

DFS Golf Picks: 9K-8K Range

Ben Griffin, $8,600: Griffin has been tearing it up in his rookie season, making nine consecutive cuts. He’s also been T-32 or better in five consecutive starts. And it’s not hard to see why. The 26-year-old is 41st in Strokes Gained Approach, drives it plenty far off the tee and hits more greens than most.

He had five top-10s on the Korn Ferry Tour last year before making the big show, and it’s so far so good for a potentially-sneaky contender from week-to-week.

Trey Mullinax, $8,100: Again, this is the type of player we like at Pebble. Mullinax is inside the top 50 for Strokes Gained Approach and he’s in form, playing well with the irons last week for a T-31 finish at Torrey Pines.

He’s also been excellent at Pebble Beach throughout his career, going 4 for 4 on cuts made with finishes of T-14, T-47, T-22 and T-28. Mullinax should be another solid play this week and might get overlooked due to the price tag.

DFS Golf Picks: 8K-7K Range

Russell Knox, $7,500: Knox is one of those feast-or-famine guys and we think this is a great week to get him in the lineup. He’s sixth on Tour in Strokes Gained Approach and has had plenty of success at Pebble Beach, where his lack of distance isn’t a concern.

He’s still got enough game at age 37 and the irons have been great lately, with Knox finishing with positive Strokes Gained Approach in 10 of his last 11 starts. The game looks tight and ready for a potential weekend run.

Joseph Bramlett, $7,400: Bramlett has already exceeded his earnings from last season in just 10 tournaments. The 34-year-old is off to a hot start with three top-25s and a top-10 at the Houston Open.

He’s made six consecutive cuts and played great last week with a T-13 finish at Torrey Pines. He’s also a California native and had a decent week here in 2020 with T-18. We’re basically chasing his current form as the irons were very hot last week, and that’s the name of the game at Pebble.

DFS Golf Picks: 7K and Below

Kevin Tway, $6,900: Tway is propped up atop the bargain bin, listed just under 7K. The irons had been a mess for a while, but he turned things around with back-to-back solid weeks in that regard and he’s hitting it well off the tee.

This is his fourth tournament in a row and he earned his best result of the season last week with a T-18 at the Farmers Insurance. It doesn’t seem like the best course fit for him, but if he’s hitting it straight off the tee the wedges should be sharp on approach. He’s worth a shot in the lineup.

Nico Echavarria, $6,500: Going way off the radar here, Echavarria has missed four of the last five cuts. But the 28-year-old rookie made it to the weekend at the Sony Open and hung around for a T-12 finish. He missed the cut last week but hit the irons well.

That was a really tough course for him as Echavarria isn’t the longest off the tee, but this week looks like a much better fit at a venue where he can realistically compete. If you need someone on the cheap, we like Echavarria for our golf picks more than anyone at this price range.
