Eddie Howe is 7/2 favourite to be the next permanent Everton manager after leading bookmakers saw a big move for current boss Marco Silva being the next manager to lose his job.

Pressure is growing on the Everton manager after three defeats in four and online bookmakers Betway make Bournemouth’s Howe the favourite to replace him.

Howe heads the betting to take over, with former Huddersfield manager David Wagner his nearest challenger at 4/1.

Former Everton legends David Moyes and Mikel Arteta are also in the running at 5/1 and 6/1 respectively.

Betway spokesman Alan Alger said: “Marco Silva’s time at Everton looks like it’s running out, with the Portuguese backed into 2/1 from 8/1 to be the next manager through the exit door.

“With Silva’s days seemingly numbered, we’ve started taking bets on his successor, with Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe the 7/2 favourite.

“Everton was Howe’s boyhood club and he looks an obvious candidate to take the Goodison Park hotseat, while David Wagner would surely be keen to step back into management at 4/1.”

Meanwhile, Manchester City once again favourites to lift this year’s Premier League trophy after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with West Ham.

Sportsbook traders flipped the two market rivals after Monday night’s result and Betway now make City winning the league by 1-3 points the most likely outcome at 11/4.

Any further slip-ups could cost either side the title and the same bookies go 25/1 for both teams to go unbeaten from now until the end of the season.

Alan Alger added: “West Ham landed a blow to Liverpool’s title hopes last night and that’s put Man City back in pole position as far as the betting is concerned.

“City, now 10/11 favourites for the league, may just have the class and consistency to see this one out, but we think it’s still going to be a very close run-in and make City 11/4 to snare the title by just 1-3 points.

“Liverpool are of course still three points clear and can be backed at 7/2 to maintain that narrow advantage and seal a first ever Premier League crown by the same margin.”
