The NASCAR playoffs roll on, and the upsets on NASCAR betting sites keep coming. First, it was +4000 Erik Jones prevailing at Darlington. Then, it was +2000 Bubba Wallace taking Kansas. And last Saturday night in East Tennessee, brought the stunning sight of +12500 Chris Buescher rolling into Victory Lane at Bristol.

Who’s leading the championship standings? Who cares. These playoffs have been absolutely blown up by the types of drivers who typically have no business winning at this time of year. For NASCAR bettors willing to climb out on a limb on betting apps (and get a little lucky, to be honest), it’s been a bonanza. One-third of the way to the finale, and the title contenders have been shut out. We suddenly face the not-crazy prospect of some +8000 shocker stealing the show from the final four championship contenders at Phoenix on Nov. 6.

But first comes this weekend at Texas, where the last five points races have produced five different winners. The only previous run on the 1.5-mile track in this game-changer of a next-gen car was the May all-star exhibition, which hardly qualifies as a real race. Kyle Larson, co-odds favorite with Denny Hamlin, won this event on his way to the championship last season—but clearly, we’re in an entirely different world now.

Tyler Reddick to Win

Odds: +1500 at BetMGM

We backed the RCR driver to win two weeks ago at Kansas, and after winning the pole and leading 38 laps he finished 35th—tied for his worst result of the season—after a blown tire sent him into the wall. Now that he’s out of playoff contention, the pressure is off. And he promises to be a factor at Texas, where his average finish of 8.7 is best in the series, and he owns a career-best result of second.

Chase Briscoe To Win

Odds: +10000 at BetMGM

Hey, it’s the season of long shots, right? Briscoe finished 15th last season in his first Texas start, and the Stewart-Haas driver has been respectable this year on 1.5-mile tri-ovals, where his best result was a fourth-place run in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte. A surprise winner at Phoenix way back in March, he’s been hanging around the fringes of contention the past few weeks, and fits the profile of the kind of winners we’ve seen lately.

Christopher Bell, Top 3

Odds: +250 at BetMGM

We likely would never have seen a surprise winner at Bristol had Bell not suffered a flat tire after leading 143 laps. As it was, his fourth-place result secured the third top-five finish of the playoff for the Gibbs driver, who’s scored more points than anyone else over the last six races. Oh, and Texas? Bell has recorded back-to-back third-place finishes at the Lone Star State track.

2022 AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500 Betting Tips

Kyle Busch leads all active drivers with four wins at Texas, where he’s been top-10 in six of his last seven starts. Of course, he was also bounced from the playoff in the elimination race last week at Bristol, so who knows his mindset for Fort Worth. Same goes for three-time Texas winner Kevin Harvick, who’s finished outside the top-10 on the big tri-oval just once since the Obama administration, but is racing only for pride from here on out.

Hamlin is also a three-time winner at Texas, but true to his nature, he’s been all over the place there—win one race, finish 28th and 20th the next two. Still, though, it’s very hard to argue with how he’s run in the playoff, with an eighth-place result at Bristol backing a pair of runner-ups. Larson won from the pole in dominant fashion last year at Texas, leading 256 laps in the process, and he’s also looked very good with an eighth and fifth the past two weeks. Texas hasn’t historically been one of the better tracks for championship leader Chase Elliott, who won at another 1.5-miler in Atlanta and was runner-up at Bristol last week.

Deeper in the pack, +4000 Daniel Suarez has a pair of third-place results at Texas and was 10th there last year, though the Trackhouse cars haven’t seemed as strong recently as they were earlier in the season. Also, +2000 Bubba Wallace is historically very good on big tracks and won two weeks ago on another 1.5-miler in Kansas. Aric Almirola, +5000 to win on betting sites, has been top-10 in four of his last six at Texas. And then there’s Daytona party-crasher Austin Dillon, whose 2020 victory is part of a very competitive run at Texas, and is a +10000 bet to win again this week.
