Week 9 of the NFL betting begins on Halloween as the New York Jets and Houston Texans dish out tricks and treats at MetLife.

The Jets could dress up as a fully functional NFL franchise. That would terrify us all.  They dropped a big rock in Robert Salah’s candy bag, firing their coach earlier this season. Aaron Rodgers has been a bit spooky, as well. Meanwhile, the Texans have been dishing out full-sized bars this season, going 5-1 ATS as favorites this season heading into Week 8.

Jets fans have been waiting for the Great Pumpkin since 1969.

The National Game of The Week on FOX offers up an NFC North classic between the Lions and Packers at Lambeau Field. Tom Brady brings the analysis starting at 4:25 p.m.

The Colts play host to the Vikings on Sunday night. Those teams were a combined 10-2 against the spread heading into Week 8. Monday night delivers an election-eve rematch of Super Bowl 55 as the Buccaneers visit the Chiefs.

The 49ers and Steelers are on the bye.

2024 NFL Week 9 Best Bets

NFL Week 9 Picks, Betting Predictions & Best Bets To Back 1

Thursday, October 31
Houston Texans at New York Jets, 8:15 p.m. (Prime Video)

Buzz: Happy Halloween. The Jets have been waiting for the Great Pumpkin since 1969. It won't be coming this year, either. Who needs Michael Myers when you have Woody Johnson? The Jets have been waiting for the Great Pumpkin since 1969. It won’t be coming this year either. Owner Johnson gave coach Robert Saleh a bag of rocks 3 weeks ago.  Aaron Rodgers has been spooked all season. He looked like an extra out of the "Walking Dead" in a Sunday loss at New England. The Texans have been giving their backers off-brand candy corn this season, going 3-4-1 ATS. Maybe the Jets could put on the scariest costume of all and show up as a fully functional franchise. More likely, it will be another "Nightmare at MetLife" as the house of horrors that is the Jets franchise continues its free fall in 2024.

Best Bet: Texans ML (-112) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Dallas Cowboys at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: Now that the New York Giants have re-committed to Brian Daboll for the 2025 season, the chances of Belichick landing in Dallas only increase with each Cowboys defeat. The Doomsday clock in Dallas is moving at double speed. The Cowboys stink on both sides and have failed to cover as underdogs against NFC teams 6 straight times. Kirk Cousins has given Atlanta the ability to put points on the board. The Falcons tore through Tampa Bay's defense with 66 points in 2 meetings over a 4-week span. And they command the NFC South. They are pointed in the right direction toward a potential home playoff game. This crowd will be loud when both teams have the ball.

Best Bet: Falcons -2  (-110) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills, 1 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: Tua Tagovailoa gave the Dolphins' offense a needed spark in Week 8, but it wasn't enough as the Dolphins defense could not stop the Cardinals at home in a 28-27 loss. The Bills are prepared for whatever Miami’s offense offers. Buffalo quietly keeps winning, but is on a dominant performance in Seattle, and is stampeding to another AFC East title. The Dolphins are 1-6 ATS and dead last in the NFL in scoring. They've failed to cover as underdogs 7 straight times. The Bills are 5th in scoring and feature a balanced attack. This line has moved a point but still sits under 7.

Best Bet: Buffalo -6.5 (-110) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Las Vegas Raiders at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The Raiders’ rallied for impressive back-door cover on 10 points in a 27-20 loss to Kansas City. The Bengals were without Tee Higgins when they got rolled by the Eagles Sunday. The Bengals aren't going anywhere this season, after all. They've lost 4 straight at home, failing to cover each time. This one is gonna be a mess.

Best Bet: Under 45.5 Points (-110) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Los Angeles Chargers at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: Jameis Winston is back. The backup Browns QB torched the Ravens going 27-for-41 with 334 yards passing and 3 TDs in what was his first start in 2 years. The Browns have lost 6 straight against the AFC West. The Chargers spanked the Saints in Week 9 and have won 4 straight over the Browns. And they have plenty of fresh game film on Winston, now. The Chargers' defense is tops in the NFL, allowing just 13 points per game. Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh won his last game in Ohio, coaching the Michigan Wolverines against the Buckeyes last season. But he dropped his previous two in the Buckeye State against its largest public university. Jimbo might want to flex in front of the Ohio crowd one more time.

Best Bet: Chargers ML (-125) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
New England Patriots at Tennessee Titans, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The Patriots needed a crucial bounce-back win Sunday and got it against one of the few franchises in the NFL worse off than themselves - the Jets. They showed for one week at least that they are not "soft." At least Jerod Mayo won't have to listen to Bill Belichick chirp about how poorly his former team is now playing. The Patriots lost Drake Maye to a concussion and he won't be back this week. The Titans were annihilated by Detroit 52-14 and are playing musical quarterbacks between Mason Rudolph and Will Levis. Another sad Nashville country song, indeed. The Ravens rank first in passing defense and the Patriots rank last in passing offense. And the Titans rank 31st in passing offense. With Jacoby Brissett back at QB for New England, neither team will be in a hurry to score.

Best Bet: Under 38 Points (-110) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Washington Commanders at New York Giants, 1 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: Big Blue is more Code Blue at MetLife this season. The Giants are winless at home. They’ll be coming off a Monday night game at Pittsburgh. Thankfully for G-Men, that game will be obscured in Gotham by Game 3 of the World Series. The Commanders are in the hunt for the NFC East title and coming off the big Jayden Daniels Mother of all "Hail Mary" plays in Week 9. Washington’s defense could well hold the Giants to single digits. But this line is far too tempting to pass upon at this number.

Best Bet: Commanders -3 (-110) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: The Saints and Chargers have lost 11 straight games. These teams are a combined 4-12 ATS but a surprising 11-5 on the over. The Saints have scored just 18 points and one TD in garbage time in their past 10 quarters of play. Sunday against the Chargers, Spencer Rattler was pulled in the 28-6 loss after hitting on 12 of 24 throws for 156 yards. Jake Haener took over at QB in the 4th quarter and did nothing. The Panthers are winless at home this season. The Saints have lost 6 straight and have failed to cover 6 straight times on the road against the NFC. The Panthers appear to be leaning back toward Bryce Young as their starting QB. This might be his get-right game. Either way, we'll gladly take the points and might put something down on the Panthers ML at +240.

Best Bet: Panthers +6.5 (-110) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Denver Broncos at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: Surprise - both the Broncos and Ravens are 5-3 approaching the halfway point of the NFL season. No one saw that coming. The Ravens (4-3-1 ATS) were torched by Jameis Winston for 334 yards and 3 TD passes Sunday, a stunning 29-24 loss to the Browns that crushed millions of parlays. The Ravens defense ranks 1st against the rush but last against the pass in the NFL. Sean Payton remains judicious in his use of QB Bo Nix. He's not going to expect Nix to the one against Baltimore's defense on the road. The Broncos' defense ranked in the top 7 in passing, rushing, scoring in the NFL following a scrimmage/win over Carolina. Defense travels well, even in Baltimore. The Broncos (6-2 ATS) have covered in 4 straight on the road.

Best Bet: Broncos +9 (-110) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Jacksonville Jaguars at Philadelphia Eagles, 1 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: Two disappointing franchises in the NFL for the past 5 seasons. The Eagles (5-2, 4-3 ATS) have the ability to play well against poor and/or mediocre teams – like the Jaguars. They soared against the Bengals in Week 8. The Eagles have beaten the Jaguars 4 straight times. This number leans in Philly’s favor, given that it’s under a touchdown. The Jaguars (2-6, 4-4 ATS) will lean into the run here. The Eagles should be able to put this one away and nail down the cover in the 2nd half – unless Jalen Hurts & Company commit too many turnovers. But Philly can't cover at home - having failed to do so in 4 straight. The Jags held on for a back door cover in Green Bay in Week 8.

Best Bet: Jaguars +7 (-110) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals, 4:05 p.m. (CBS)

Buzz: This game is now basically a pick 'em. The Bears have to pick up the pieces following their "Fail Mary" against the Commanders. Caleb Williams continues to play solid ball. The rookie QB gave his team the lead on the road against the Commanders with just 25 seconds to play. That was 1 second too much. The Bears have lost 5 straight on the road and head from Landover to Glendale to face the always-intriguing Cardinals. Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. found their groove against the Dolphins to produce a 28-27 last-second win. The Bears' defense - despite blowing the final play of the game Sunday - ranks 4th in the NFL in scoring. It has everything to prove this week. The Cardinals - despite the Murray-Harrison show - still lean run first. But Arizona needs to strike early and force the Bears into a game of catch-up and score.

Best Bet: Bears ML (-110) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers, 4:25 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: These teams have won 9 straight games combined. The FOX National Game of the Week offers up an NFC North classic. The Lions bring their offense outdoors in the chilled-but-not-frozen tundra at Lambeau Field. The Lions (6-1, 6-1 ATS) are 3-0 on the road. They continued to prove their legitimacy with a last-second win at Minnesota in Week 7. Detroit then demolished Tennessee Sunday in what was little more than a scrimmage in preparation for this game.  The Lions are 43-18 (.716) in their previous 61 games ATS. The Packers escaped the Jaguars but failed to cover in a 30-27 win Sunday. We grabbed the Lions on the early line +1. This number moved 5.5 points after Sunday. That's too much, here.

Best Bet: Under 47.5 Points (-110) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks, 4:25 p.m. (FOX)

Buzz: The Rams have put the band back together - meaning Matthew Stafford throwing to a healthy Cooper Kupp, a healthy Puka Nacua, and often untouched Kryen Williams. Stafford sank the Vikings with 279 yards passing and 4 TD strikes. Nacua finished with 7 catches for 106 yards in LA's 30-20 win over the Vikings in Week 8. The Rams (3-4, 2-5 ATS) have covered 4 straight at Lumen Field. The Seahawks (4-4, 2-5-1 ATS) were bludgeoned 30-10 by Josh Allen and the Bills Sunday. They gave the Rams plenty of film on how to carve up the Seahawks' defense. The caveat here is that the Rams have lost 4 straight on the road. This is their BIG test. They'll pass.

Best Bet: Rams +1 (-115) DraftKings

Sunday, November 3
Indianapolis Colts at Minnesota Vikings, 8:20 p.m. (NBC)

Buzz: Stop The Presses. The Indianapolis Colts (4-4 overall) are the best team against the spread in the NFL at 7-1 this season. No. One. Saw. That. Coming. Even with QB Anthony Richardson tapping out against the Texans in a 23-20 loss (but cover). The Vikings (5-2, 5-2 ATS) have dropped 2 straight and their last win came over the train-wreck Jets in London. The mini-bye will help Sam Darnold & Company after a brutal loss to the Rams. The Vikings defense should fare a bit better against the Colts and their run-first QB. We'd love to ride the Colts ATS Express, but this one is going to be close. And low-scoring.

Best Bet: Under 45 Points DraftKings

Monday, November 4
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Kansas City Chiefs, 8:15 p.m. (ESPN/ABC)

Buzz: Monday night delivers an election-eve rematch of Super Bowl 55 as the 4-4 Buccaneers visit the 7-0 Chiefs. But Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski aren’t walking through any door at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs continue to dominate with defense, and Patrick Mahomes being Patrick Mahomes. Kansas City has won 13 straight overall. But the Chiefs slipped to 5-2 ATS as the Raiders rallied for a backdoor cover on the 9-point line Sunday in Las Vegas. This is KC's 2nd biggest line of the season and – surprisingly – just the second time they’ve been favored by more than a touchdown. The Buccaneers can score anytime, but have gotten scorched by the Ravens (Lamar Jackson) and Falcons (Kirk Cousins) in consecutive weeks. This week, they'll be lit up by KC's defense.

Best Bet: Chiefs -8.5 (-110) DraftKings
