When Taylor Swift embraced Travis Kelce on the field at Allegiant Stadium after the Chiefs' 25-22 overtime win over the 49ers in Super Bowl, it marked the end of a wild ride for the new couple and NFL fans everywhere. 

The pop superstar went all-in on the Chiefs' season in support of Kelce, her boyfriend and star Chiefs tight end, and the rumor mill continues to ramp up with all eyes on the star couple after a whirlwind season.

Swift Watch officially became a thing on NFL Sundays. The only thing, really, for diehard Swift fans who care more about the action in the suite level than on the field. But Swift’s mere attendance is no longer breaking news. She’s showing up week after week. Now the main area of speculation revolves around her guest list and what it means in the grand scheme.

Swift spent Christmas Day watching the Chiefs’ 20-14 loss to the Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium, but she wasn’t alone. Swift brought her mom, dad, and brother along. The game stunk, and Kelce didn’t play very well, but the Swift family affair was more than enough to satisfy the NFL’s newest viewership demographic. 

This came a week after another in-person appearance from Swift on Dec. 17 at Gillette Stadium for the Chiefs' 27-17 win over the Patriots. Swift was joined by her dad, Scott Swift, who was filmed handing out birthday cake to adjoining suites to celebrate Swift's 34th birthday on Dec. 13th.

Much of the recent wedding buzz centered around a mistake from CBS' Tony Romo, who was on the call for the Bills-Chiefs game on Dec. 10 when the broadcast cut to Taylor Swift's suite early in the second quarter at Arrowhead Stadium.

“As you see Kelce’s wife, Taylor Swift in the audience,” Romo said. 

Romo corrected himself, almost instantly, but the damage had been done. The Swifties don’t play around with these things, especially when it concerns a whirlwind relationship that’s taken the NFL by storm with Swift – amid her record-setting Eras Tour – dating star Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Naturally, the clip went viral and sparked a bunch of speculation that Romo knew something fans didn’t. Tabloids had already been running everything from alleged close sources to psychic visions, and Romo’s gaff only further set the rumor mill off the rails.  

Also, it led to legitimate speculation from curious onlookers who’ve seen this relationship play out on NFL Sundays throughout the fall. And for the diehards who follow all the celebrity mags, message boards, and gossip sites, there’s only one question – especially for those Swifties who have collectively decided that Travis is a worthy suitor, a “good guy” – when are these two going to tie the knot?

Will Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Get Engaged?

This has been a point of speculation for months now, with sportsbooks taking bets on multiple Swift props for the Super Bowl - including whether or not Kelce would propose after the game. 

While that didn't happen, we weren't surprised. It was fun for fans to think about. But given the timeline and the fact that Swift will be out of the country in the months to follow, the odds for a Super Bowl proposal were never very strong.

Given their busy schedules and patterns, we have the window of a May-August 2024 engagement as the most likely outcome. Let’s examine the timeline.

Swift made her first public appearance in support of Kelce during the Chiefs’ 41-10 win over the Bears Sep. 28 at Arrowhead Stadium. Cameras were all over her throughout the game in what became a massive public spectacle, confirming rumors and shifting strategies for NFL-focused social media accounts hoping to cash in on all the extra eyeballs. 

However, Swift has since said that the couple first started hanging out in July of 2023 after Kelce said on his podcast that he had tried and failed to connect with Swift at one of her concerts. She's now attended nine games this season, so we know the couple has now been going strong for about four to five months. 

Swift's European tour schedule is pretty loaded in this window, but Kelce could take this opportunity to pop the question at any number of the A-list cities on the docket - Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam, Dublin, London, etc.

While the speculation continues to ramp up in the coming months as fans get anxious, Swift's focus will be on the international leg of her Eras Tour for the early months of 2024. It's more likely Kelce continues to play it cool and avoid fumbling the bag with a potentially too-early proposal. 

This May-August leg would also include their one-year anniversary as a couple, which wouldn't be a bad time for Kelce to go for it.

Our next most likely outcome is that it never happens. We get it! They seem great together! Why wouldn’t it last forever? Here we remind you that celebrity couples come and go, especially when one of the parties is set to leave the country for most of the year. Things happen! They can still be friends! Don’t shoot the messenger here.

Otherwise, a September-December 2024 window would be the next most logical. 

There is another brief window in Swift's grueling tour schedule should Kelce decide to hold off, a three-month break from Aug. 20-Nov. 14. Given that the break starts before the 2024 NFL opener, Kelce could pop the question while she’s back in the States before the Chiefs start a new season or early in the fall. Assuming they aren't engaged by this point.

Swift finishes her international stretch on Dec. 8 in Vancouver, and by that point, the couple would hypothetically have been dating for about 16 months – a pretty typical amount of time to be together before an engagement. 

With nothing on the books for 2025 that we know of, it would give the two time to plan things out and set a date that doesn’t conflict with either schedule. 

The current January-April, 2024 window is also a possibility, but, again, they've both got a lot going on right now. 

Our least likely outcome is a proposal in 2025 or beyond. Swift and Kelce aren’t exactly spring chickens. She’s 33, he’s 34 and we can’t imagine another 13+ months of casual appearances at games and concerts without serious discussions about the future. With millions of interested parties watching from afar throughout, time will tell if Romo’s error was simply a false start.
