Nobody believed in Josh Warrington, but the kid kept winning anyway and almost always by decision. That’s why you should back Warrington on points over Kid Galahad at -150 at 888Sport this weekend.

Warrington, 28, from Leeds, England, takes on 29-year-old British stalwart Abdul-Bari Awad, a fighter best known by his nickname, Kid Galahad, on Saturday at Leeds Arena in Leeds, England.

Warrington a Bettor’s Dream

The best thing about this matchup for fans of boxing betting is that it features two undefeated domestic rivals vying for Warrington’s IBF featherweight title.

Why You Should Bet Warrington Over Kid Galahad By Decision 1
Josh Warrington celebrates winning the World Featherweight Championship against Carl Frampton at Manchester Arena.

Warrington is a breath of fresh air. He’s all violence and grit and none of the other pretentious garbage that sometimes comes with fighters who enjoy more fan support on their way up the rankings.

The second-best thing about the fight is that it seems so easy to bet. The style matchup is all kinds of wrong for one and all kinds of right for the other. Sure, Kid Galahad is a former British and Commonwealth junior featherweight champion, but Warrington’s done more in the sport over just as many years and in a higher weight class.

How the Fight Should Shake Out

Besides, when clever boxers like Galahad meet fast-handed pressure cookers like Warrington, they’d better be able to make their opponent miss. While Kid Galahad is a good enough boxer to scrape by regional-level opponents with fancy footwork and sometimes sharp counters, doing the same to Warrington is an entirely different thing altogether.

That’s because Warrington is no regional bloke hoping to stave off looking for a real job. He’s a legitimate world level force ready and raring to go to America to hunt bigger game.

That much was clear when Warrington defied the odds and defeated Carl Frampton in December 2018. Frampton had enjoyed all the things Warrington so desperately craved. He was a domestic star. He traveled to the U.S. and solidified his legacy against a pound-for-pound superstar in Leo Santa Cruz.

In short, Frampton was what Warrington desired to be, so Warrington beat the tar out of him.

And Frampton would probably box circles around Kid Galahad, too. Frampton might not possess the same fire he did just a few years ago, but he’s still an elite level counterpuncher who most thought could box Warrington’s ears off or at least do just enough to take the decision.

But Warrington defeated Frampton by decision, of course, and it was easy to score at that. The same thing will happen against Kid Galahad. Warrington is a bettor’s dream. He punches hard enough to hurt his opponents and win the rounds, but he’s not quite sharp enough as a puncher to score stoppages.
