Wyndham Championship Odds, Betting Tips & Expert Predictions
The 2021 PGA Tour season is nearing the finish line, and it’s last call for the FedEx Cup Playoffs at this week’s Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina.
It’s been an electric season for golf betting, including an unprecedented six major championships and the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Now we’re down to the final regular-season event at Sedgefield Country Club, where players outside the playoff bubble have one more chance to sneak into the FedEx Cup field.
Following the Wyndham Championship, the top 125 players in points will advance to the first playoff event at next week’s Northern Trust at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey.
That means motivation is at an all-time high for many in the field and, unlike most weeks, the difference between a T-8 and a T-15 finish could make or break the postseason bid. The bubble includes some big names like Adam Scott, who’s just inside right now at 121st in the standings. Others like Rickie Fowler (130th) and Tommy Fleetwood (136th) need to make a serious playoff push over the next four rounds.
A quick look at the golf odds shows that Webb Simpson (+1000) is the significant betting favorite given his history in Greensboro – Simpson has eight top-10s and a win in 12 Wyndham starts, including four consecutive finishes of third or better. Hideki Matsuyama (+1400) is second on the board at most sportsbooks, with Louis Oosthuizen next at +1600 on betting sites and sports betting apps.
Patrick Reed rounds out the top four at +2000.

2021 Wyndham Championship Expert Picks & Predictions
Harold Varner III, Top-10 Finish
Odds: +700 at DraftKings
Varner is firmly inside the bubble and looking to improve his stock – he’s currently 72nd in points and needs to move inside the top 70 in order to advance after next week’s Northern Trust. His game has been in a good place lately, and he has past success to draw on at Sedgefield.
Varner finished T-15 at last week’s alternate-field Barracuda Championship and was T-11 a few weeks ago at the John Deere Classic. Putting has held him back a little this season, but all other aspects of his game have been sharp.
This event has also suited Varner in recent years – he was T-7 last season and has two top-10s in five appearances. We like the price and think Varner top-10 is definitely worth a touch at these odds.
2021 Wyndham Championship Betting Tips
Sedgefield Country Club is a par-71 Donald Ross layout that annually plays host to the final PGA Tour stop of the regular season.
It’s tough to overpower this course off the tee and the club hasn’t tried to add any length over the years. Innisbrook’s Copperhead course comes to mind – players will be asked to hit different shot shapes off the tee and less than driver is often the play for some of the longer guys.
Accuracy off the tee is far more important than distance this week, as errant tee shots can lead to blocked or tricky approaches. Motivation is also a big factor this week. We’re looking at players just inside or outside the top 125, as well as the top 70, considering that’s the next cutoff following the Northern Trust. Those on the bubble won’t take any shortcuts in routine and every shot will have their full attention.
