Bears at Lions Thanksgiving Betting Guide
Betting Bears-Lions Against the Spread
The Bears are 2.5-point favorites at most sportsbooks. Chicago is 3-8 against the spread, which is tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the worst mark in the league. Both the Bears and the Lions have sagged this season. The Bears (5-6) are one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL.
The Lions (3-7-1) have been competitive, but they just can’t play complete games. Want proof? Detroit has led in all 11 games, but have managed to win just three times. This will be the two team’s second meeting this month. The Bears, who have won two of the past three games, beat the visiting Lions 20-13 on November 10.
The Bears were -130 on the moneyline early in the week, while the Lions were at +107. Both offer decent value. If bettors think the Bears can win their third game in four weeks and beat the Lions for the second time in 20 days, -130 is not a bad bet. However, the Lions getting +107 at home against a team with a losing record is good value as well.
Bears-Lions Over/Under Betting
The total opened at 39 points at most sportsbooks and began dipping, not surprising given these teams totaled just 33 points earlier this month. Bears games have been totaling low for weeks because the Mitch Trubisky-offense has been struggling mightily and because the Chicago defense is still stout. Here are the Bears’ point totals in the past five games: 33, 24, 33, 36, 33.
For most of the season, Lions games have had high totals, but two of the past three games have totaled in the 30s. For the season, Detroit, who have been playing recently without starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, games are averaging a total of 50.
Bills at Cowboys Thanksgiving Betting Guide
Betting Bills-Cowboys Against the Spread
Dallas opened as a 7-point favorite over the Bills. That is a big spread in the most interesting game on Thanksgiving. Buffalo is 7-3-1 against the spread, which is tied for the league’s best mark with the Arizona Cardinals. The Cowboys, however, are no ATS slouches themselves. They are 7-4. Something will have to give between these two playoff contenders. The Bills are 8-3 and a real threat in the AFC. The Cowboys, who lost a bitter game at New England on Sunday, are 6-5 and lead the NFC East by a game.
The Cowboys opened an impressive -315 on the moneyline, while the Bills were +240. While I’m surprised by the 7-point point spread, these moneylines also stick out. The fact that an eight-win team is fetching +240 is stunning. For Bills backers, this is worthwhile bet. Buffalo is 4-1 on the road this season. Meanwhile, the Cowboys’ price seems steep.
Bills-Cowboys Over/Under Betting
The total opened as high as 46 points as some sportsbooks. Both Dallas and Buffalo are coming of games with low totals. However, most recent Dallas games have had much higher totals, which reflects this game’s total. Dallas’ games are averaging 45.9 points this season. Buffalo totals have been all over the place with no real trends and are averaging 36.7 points a game. The Bills allow an average of 15.7 points, which is the third lowest in the NFL.
Saints at Falcons Thanksgiving Betting Guide
Betting Saints-Falcons Against the Spread
The Saints (9-2) opened as about a touchdown favorite at most sportsbooks. The Saints have been excellent against the spread at 7-4. The Saints will head to Atlanta with a bad memory at the forefront of their minds. The Falcons delivered one of the NFL season’s biggest upsets on Nov. 10 when they beat the Saints in New Orleans as a double-digit underdog. The Falcons entered that game with one win.
The Saints have rebounded with two straight wins. Atlanta had a two-game win streak snapped by Tampa Bay on Sunday. Oddsmakers clearly believe the Falcons’ win over the Saints earlier this month was a fluke.
The Saints are -overwhelming moneyline favorites, similar to what we’re seeing in the Bills-Cowboys game. So, if Falcons backers feel they can pull of a season sweep of the Saints, the huge moneyline price offers excellent value.
Saints-Falcons Over/Under Betting
The total is hovering near 50 points at most sportsbooks. Thus, oddsmakers expect much more from Drew Brees, Michael Thomas and company that what they produced earlier this month against the Falcons. New Orleans is averaging is 24.7 points a game but scored 34 points in each of its past two games since the Atlanta debacle. The Falcons (3-8) need to keep totals low. In their three wins this season, the games averaged a total of 37 points. So if you like the Falcons, you should look to combine it with the under for an even more attractive payout.
