FOX Bet Sportsbook Review

FOX Bet is an online sportsbook that offers a range of exciting bonuses, odds boosts and customized challenges. It is co-owned by FOX Sports and the world’s largest online gambling company, so it benefits from great branding and a wealth of operational expertise. However, FOX Bet sportsbook has not enjoyed the same level of popularity as its sister site FanDuel, so there is a clear need for the owners to invest in promotional credits to attract new customers.

That spells good news for bettors New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Michigan, as FOX Bet is live in all four states with eyes on others. The plan is to eventually roll the sports betting site out across the country. This FOX Bet sportsbook review assesses the promotions, the sign-up process, the banking methods, the security measures, the customer service team, the betting options, the sportsbook features and the quality of odds on offer at the site. We will provide a detailed verdict on the FOX Bet betting app and the desktop platform, and highlight its key strengths and weaknesses.

ProsCons
Lots of creative bonuses Customer service capabilities are limited
Strong branding and links with FOX Sports No live streaming
High wagering limits No same game parlay builder

FOX Bet Review Summary

As one of the top sportsbooks, you'll find that FOX Bet is a really unique and interesting. No other online sports betting site in America offers such fantastic insight from famous presenters and analysts, while the live scores and news updates are useful. It also has creative bonuses, high wagering limits, a strong app and great odds boosts.

However, customer service capabilities are very limited, there is no live streaming, it does not have a same-game parlay builder, some of the odds are below average and withdrawal processing times are slow. So there is room for improvement. That is understandable, as FOX Bet is a very new brand and it has already come a long way in a short space of time. We should see the site becoming increasingly refined in the years ahead.

FOX Bet Online Sportsbook

FOX Bet was created as a joint venture between FOX Sports and Canadian company The Stars Group in 2019. The venture made FOX Sports the first major U.S. sports broadcaster to introduce a co-branded sports betting platform. However, The Stars Group was already experienced in this field. It historically focused on online poker – it owns world-famous brands PokerStars and Full Tilt – but in 2018 it acquired UK brand Sky Bet in a cash and stock deal.

Sky Bet was launched in collaboration with Sky Sports, the UK’s leading sports broadcaster, which was also created by FOX Sports founder Rupert Murdoch. The brand features prominently on Sky Sports broadcasts, while the famous broadcasters feature in its commercials. The idea was to create a similar offering for the nascent U.S. sports betting market in partnership with FOX Sports. As part of the deal, Fox Corp. acquired a 4.99% stake in The Stars Group for $236 million, and it can purchase up to a 50% stake in the company’s U.S. operations within a decade.

Just five months later, Flutter Entertainment – the owner of FanDuel, Paddy Power, Betfair and various other brands – agreed to purchase The Stars Group for $6 billion. The sale was completed in May 2020, forming the world’s largest online gaming company. It brought FanDuel, FOX Bet, Paddy Power, Betfair Sky Bet, PokerStars, Full Tilt, BetEasy, Adjarabet and Sportsbet under the same parent company.

FOX Corp. was given the option to acquire an 18.6% stake in Flutter’s U.S. subsidiary, FanDuel Group, in 2021. There are some legal complications surrounding this deal. FOX wants to acquire it at an $11.2 billion total valuation, the value set when Flutter bought out the founders of FanDuel in 2020, but Flutter believes it should pay a lot more. That dispute looks set to rumble on, but it should not have any impact upon the FOX Bet brand, which benefits from a popular FOX Bet Super 6 contest and strong branding.

The FOX sports betting site initially launched in New Jersey after tying up a deal with Resorts Atlantic City to operate on its license. It then expanded into Pennsylvania, Colorado and Michigan. In 2020, Flutter reported revenue of $800 million for FanDuel, compared to $96 million for FOX Bet. Chief executive Peter Jackson admitted that FOX Bet was “struggling” and that customer acquisition was low, but it is now investing in some interesting promotions and bonuses to redress the balance. FOX Bet has a reputation as a trustworthy, innovative online sportsbook, and it could become a major player in the U.S. sports betting market if it follows a similar trajectory to Sky Bet in the UK.

Registering at FOX Bet

Simply click on the link with this review, select your state and click the blue “Join” button at the top right of the homepage to bring up the registration form. You will be prompted to enter a valid email address, choose a username and password, and then click “Continue.” Agree to the terms and conditions and you can then enter your personal details.

You will be asked to provide your first name, gender, date of birth, the last four digits of your SSN and your mobile phone number. You must then enter your residential address, and the next step involves setting up two security questions and answers. The final step is to confirm you are at least 21 years of age. You will then have to verify your email address and upload documentation to prove your identity and your residential address. The sign-up process is a little slower at FOX Bet than at some of its rivals, as it requires you to fill in several different forms.

FOX Bet Sports Betting

The main sports covered by FOX Bet are displayed with icons at the top of the sportsbook homepage:

  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Baseball
  • Soccer
  • Hockey
  • Boxing/MMA
  • Golf

It covers each of these sports in a very thorough fashion. You will find several fun NFL futures betting, including a team to go 17-0, 20-0 and 0-17. It also has odds boosts on football futures, such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers moving from +750 to +900 to win the Super Bowl. College football betting is also possible. Fans can bet on the conference winners, the National Champions winner and the player that will secure the Heisman Trophy.

You should be able to choose from more than 100 different wagering options on an NBA game. That includes alternative spreads and totals, game props, quarters and halves. FOX Bet offers odds boosts on certain player props within games, and you can also check out a list of predetermined same-game parlays. There is not a same-game parlay builder, but you can Tweet FOX Bet with a custom wager you would like to place, using #CustomBet, and the team will consider pricing it up for you. It is a little time-consuming, but it does add flexibility for bettors.

The sportsbook also covers basketball leagues around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan and various European tournaments. The hockey and baseball sections stick to the NHL and MLB, and the number of wagering options is also lower. You will typically be able to choose from 30 to 35 wagers on an MLB or NHL game, which lags rival sportsbooks. FOX Bet has more than 100 betting options on many soccer games, and its coverage of leagues around the world is reasonable, but you will find a larger selection of tournaments at rival sites.

The other sports featured at FOX Bet are:

  • Aussie Rules
  • Motor Sports (NASCAR and Formula 1)
  • Rugby League
  • Rugby Union
  • Tennis

Once again, that is a narrow list. Its competitors typically take bets on cricket, cycling, darts, lacrosse, snooker, table tennis, volleyball and other sports.

Site Experience

FOX Bet still operates on its legacy platform, so the site looks different to FanDuel. It is not quite as clean and user-friendly as its sister site, but the overall experience is still pretty strong. The interface is busy, featuring lots of pictures of excited FOX Sports hosts advertising promotions, and it packs a lot of information into each page. It feels a little cluttered, but you soon get used to it.

There is no search function, which is a shame, but navigation is simple and pages load quickly. There are helpful widgets such as “Trending Bets”, and you can easily switch to the live betting section, the casino and the poker room. It lacks a “Sports A-Z” list at the left of the homepage, but you can fire up a list of all the sports covered by clicking “All” in the top right corner. The bet slip is well-designed and easy to use.

Perhaps the best thing about the site experience is the input from the FOX Sports team. The likes of Cris Carter, Nick Wright, Cousin Sal, Todd Fuhrman, Clay Travis, Rachel Bonnetta, Colin Cowherd and Charissa Thompson will offer their insight to help you make informed wagering decisions, and you can also benefit from scores, stats and up-to-the-minute news alerts.

Betting Interface:User-Friendly
Mobile Betting:Yes
Betting App:Apple, Android
Live Sports Betting:Yes
Live Sports Streaming:No

Mobile App Experience

FOX Bet has a highly-rated app that you can download for any Apple or Android device. The FOX Bet mobile app includes the sportsbook and the casino, which is handy if you like playing at both and live in a state where that is a legal option (NJ, PA, MI). Many operators require you to download a separate casino app. FOX Bet’s app has an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 at the Apple Store after receiving more than 5,000 user ratings, and it has also earned rave reviews from Android users.

We tested it out for this review and found that this bookie's app worked well on many different devices. It is really easy to navigate and the bet slip populates effectively, which is important for anyone placing live bets while out and about. There is a separate app for the FOX Bet Super 6 contests. This has an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 among Apple users after receiving more than 500,000 reviews, and 4.5 at the Google Play store after 155,000 reviews.

FOX Bet GeoComply

You will need to activate the GeoComply plugin to use the FOX Bet sportsbook. Legal requirements mean that customers must prove they are located within a state in which FOX Bet is licensed to operate. You will find FOX Bet on the list of apps, and you can change the location services set to “Always” or “While Using the App” to ensure that you are fully compliant at all times.

Quality of the Odds

The odds are reasonably appealing at FOX Bet. It offers standard dime lines on sides and totals, but its moneyline odds are generally below average. They also often lag the odds available at FanDuel, which is a little strange when you consider they are part of the same company. However, you will occasionally find some interesting prices on certain teams at FOX Bet, as it does offer some opinionated lines and boosts local teams.

Notable Features

FOX Bet provides customers with several interesting features that enrich the overall wagering experience.

Live Betting

FOX Bet offers live betting on football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer and some tennis tournaments. You can watch a live infographic that keeps you abreast of developments within a particular game, browse live stats and choose from several different bet types. However, it is strange to note that there is no live streaming when you consider that FOX is a sports broadcaster.

Cash Out

The cash-out function at FOX Bet allows you to take your wager off the table before the sporting event has finished. You can use it to guarantee an early profit or mitigate further losses if your team is struggling. The cash-out terms are reasonably generous.

Odds Boosts

FOX Bet is hot on odds boosts. It highlights various “Super Boost” options in the sportsbook homepage, and you will find boosted prop odds within certain games too. This is one of the best features of the site.

#CustomBet

You can Tweet the team using this hashtag if you want it to price up a particular prop or same game parlay for you. That is a useful, if slightly painstaking, feature. However, there is no same game parlay builder, which is a shame.

Understanding Betting Options

FOX Bet offers a narrower range of betting options than some of its competitors, but you will still have more than 100 wagers to choose from on big games, and the #CustomBet feature further boosts your options. You can combine parlays bets and round robins too.

Minimum Bet

The minimum bet varies, but it will be displayed on the bet slip when you make a selection, and it is generally pretty low.

Maximum Bet

There is no maximum bet, but the maximum you can win from a single wager is $1 million. That is a lot higher than many of its rivals.

Reduced Juice

FOX Bet is not a reduced juice sportsbook, as it offers standard dime lines on spreads and totals. None of the legal sports betting sites in the U.S. currently offer reduced juice pricing.

Deposit & Withdrawal Methods at FOX Bet

FOX Bet provides a narrow list of deposit and withdrawal options to choose from. It is also pretty slow to process payout requests, but you should receive your funds within 72 hours if you opt for an e-wallet withdrawal. The site has a reputation for reliable and secure payouts.

Depositing Money

FOX Bet generally accepts deposits bets using Visa, Mastercard, bank transfer, PayPal and Skrill as deposit methods. You will not be able to use Play+, PayNearMe, PaySafeCard, Neteller, check by mail or wire transfer to fund your account. The minimum deposit is always $10, but the maximum can vary depending on the method you choose. Contact customer service to discuss your options if you want to make a really large deposit.

Withdrawing Money

You have just three options when making a withdrawal from FOX Bet – bank transfer, PayPal or Skrill. You can visit the “Cashier” section and select “Withdraw” to make your request. You will then be prompted to enter a withdrawal amount and your preferred method.

How Does FOX Bet Payout?

FOX Bet advises customers that it takes up to 72 hours to process all payout requests. You will then receive your funds in a few minutes if you choose Skrill or Neteller, but online bank transfers via eCheck take three to 10 business days, so you could be left waiting for more than two weeks to receive your winnings after making a payout request. All withdrawals are free, but PayPal and Skrill may charge fees.

FOX Bet Sportsbook State Restrictions

FOX Bet is currently available in four different states. It has not been rolled out as quickly as FanDuel, but the brand has made a lot of noise since launching, and it should go live in other states in the not too distant future.

FOX Bet New Jersey

FOX Bet launched in New Jersey back in September 2019. Chief executive Robin Chhabra called it “a game-changer” and “a superior, integrated and interactive live viewing experience for our customers found nowhere else in the United States.” It operates on the license of Resorts Atlantic City in the Garden State.

FOX Bet Pennsylvania

FOX Bet launched in Pennsylvania just two days after making its New Jersey debut. It partnered with Mount Airy Casino to go live in the Keystone State.

FOX Bet Colorado

FOX Bet expanded into Colorado in 2020 after inking a deal with the Lady Luck Casino in Black Hawk. It is an online-only operation, with no plans for a retail sportsbook.

FOX Bet Michigan

FOXBet, Stars Casino and PokerStars all went live in Michigan in January 2021. To celebrate the launch, FOX Bet sportsbook offered new customers 10x their money if the Kansas City Chiefs or Tampa Bay Buccaneers scored a point in the Super Bowl that year, which essentially amounted to a $100 free bet.

FOX Bet Casino

FOX Bet was formerly part of The Stars Group, one of the world’s foremost online casino and poker operators. When you click “Casino” on the FOX Bet sportsbook, you will be transported to the PokerStars Casino, which is one of the best in the business. It is easy to use, the game variety is seriously impressive and the top games from some of the world’s most respected software developers are featured. There are lots of card and table games, but you will not find live dealer options. The online poker room is naturally superb, as PokerStars is the world’s leading brand.

Loyalty Program

You can participate in the Stars Rewards program after signing up for an account with FOX Bet. This allows you to accumulate Stars points as you play, and these funds can later be redeemed for free bets and other rewards. You will climb up through different loyalty tiers, unlocking more lucrative rewards as you progress.

FOX Bet Customer Support

Your only option when contacting the FOX Bet customer support team is to send an email. That is disappointing, as rivals offer 24/7 customer service via phone and live chat, so FOX Bet falls short in this department. On the other hand, response times are quick, and the emails are helpful.

Safety and Security

FOX Bet has a strong security record. It employs a dedicated security team to ward off threats from hackers and scammers, and the site utilizes aggressive SSL encryption software to always keep your personal and financial details safe. The site has not suffered any security breaches since launching.

Responsible Gambling

You can click on the “Responsible Gaming” icon at the top right of the sports betting site to learn more about the brand’s commitments to assisting and protecting customers who are at risk of the potential negative effects of gambling. It provides self-exclusion tools, guidance on how to gamble responsibly and risk identification techniques. There are links to various charities and support networks, and details about how to impose limits on your account.

Our Verdict of FOX Bet Sportsbook

FOX Bet is a great choice for anyone that wants to bet on football, basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer. It covers all those sports in excellent depth, with a great deal of insight from the famous faces at FOX Sports. The app is great, the bonuses are appealing, and the FOX Bet Super 6 contests are extremely popular.

This operator does have some shortcomings – withdrawal processing times are slow, banking options are narrow, customer service is only available via email, the odds are average and there is no live streaming, while some may find the interface a little clunky. However, FOX Bet is a fairly new brand and it is continually improving. We expect it to make significant strides in the months and years ahead, and it has the potential to eventually compete with sister site FanDuel in the battle to become the number one American sportsbook.
