PGA Championship Odds, Picks & Top Prop Bets To Back

PGA Championship Odds, Picks & Top Prop Bets To Back

Major golf betting finally returns this week at the PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park.

It’s been more than a year since Shane Lowry won the 2019 British Open at Royal Portrush. Hopefully Tiger Woods and the rest of golf’s A-listers make it worth the wait and deliver a strong performance in the first major of 2020.

Justin Thomas tops the latest PGA Championship odds at +800. New-look Bryson DeChambeau is second-choice at +1000, which would have come as a shock just a few months ago. He was +4000 to win the 2019 British Open but has since added a ton of bulk and driving prowess. Last month’s Rocket Mortgage Classic victory and a string of top-5 finishes has the betting shops high on DeChambeau’s chances in San Francisco.

Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka are among the next contestants in the latest PGA Championship betting odds. Rahm and Johnson both have wins since the restart while Koepka and McIlroy are still looking to get back in major form.

TPC Harding Park should provide a solid test after the PGA Championship pivoted from the birdie-fest at Bellerive in 2018 to last year’s brutal conditions at Bethpage Black. We’ll see what the PGA of America has in store in the long-anticipated return to major golf.

Xander Schauffele to Win

Schauffele is an established major threat at age 26. He has four top-5 finishes in his last eight majors, including a runner-up at the 2019 Masters and T-3 at the 2019 U.S. Open. Schauffele last won in January 2019 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. But the results have been steady ever since and he’s contended more than a handful of times, most recently with a T-3 at the Charles Schwab Challenge in June.

The San Diego native is excellent with the driver. If he can just make a few more clutch putts, we like Schauffele’s chances to pick up his first major victory in his home state. Bet on him with DraftKings.

Viktor Hovland Top-10 Finish

Few on the PGA Tour are striking it better than Hovland right now. This is his first major as a professional, but the 22-year-old didn’t show any sign of nerves when he threw himself into the mix last year. He was low amateur in both majors he played, with a T-32 at the Masters and T-12 at the U.S. Open.

If you can handle yourself at Augusta National and Pebble Beach, TPC Harding Park doesn’t sound as daunting. Putting is a concern, but he’s still 17th in scoring average and putting himself in great positions on the greens. A top-10 this week would represent another big step in his young career. Phil Mickelson to Miss the Cut

Mickelson is proving he can still get hot at anytime with a few stellar rounds since the restart. He opened 64-63 at the Travelers Championship to get in contention but fell off down the stretch for a T-24 finish. He’s been mediocre in four tournaments since then and doesn’t seem ready to contend at a major for now.

Mickelson has missed two of the last three PGA Championship cuts, and we all know the one he wants most is a shot at redemption in the forthcoming U.S. Open at Winged Foot. You can make this wager with FanDuel.

Luke List Top-10 Finish

We’re going with a longshot here as List is showing some promise. He’s missed several cuts since the restart but usually plays well when he gets to the weekend.

List was T-10 at last month’s Memorial Tournament and that was basically a major. Brutal setup and best field for a regular Tour event in history, and List rose to the occasion. He was also solo sixth at the 2019 PGA Championship. He’s plenty long enough off the tee and we like him for another sneaky top-10 finish in San Francisco. Grab List’s odds at FOX Bet.

Jordan Spieth Top-10 Finish

Spieth is still clearly battling some demons out there, especially off the tee. Fairways have been hard to come by. But it’s no longer one step forward, two steps back. We’ve been fading Spieth for more than a year now and believe this could actually be the week he officially breaks out of the slump in a big way.

Spieth had a determined T-13 at the Memorial and continues to fight through all the on-course setbacks. Let’s hope he’s ready to surprise and work his way into one of the final pairings Sunday at TPC Harding Park. Back him over at BetMGM.
