The Stadion im Borussia-Park plays host to an intriguing tussle between a Mönchengladbach team who lost their first five Bundesliga games of the season and a Manchester City side who win their first five.

Manuel Pellegrini saw his team lose at home to Juventus a fortnight ago which means they really need three points against German opposition who have changed their manager after Lucien Favre surprisingly decided to step down.

Andre Schubert has stabilised the situation with a couple of wins and it should be noted that the team finished third in their division last term although they could be vulnerable against a City side with plenty of options.

Joe Hart should return between the sticks after a defensive horror show against Tottenham, with Kevin de Bruyne returning to Germany and scoring for fun since arriving from Wolfsburg even if he’s not helped the team to many wins.

Vincent Kompany should also be fit for the encounter after sitting on the bench at White Hart Lane, with David Silva and Wilfried Bony also hoping to be available for a clash that City can ill-afford to lose.

It’s hard to put one’s faith in City after a few setbacks and their European form is non-too clever, although Sergio Aguero remains one of the hottest marksmen around and a demolition of Sunderland in the League Cup last week demonstrates the damage that can be done when the visitors are in the mood.
